Here is part 4 of my series on how my life has changed since having my daughter. I have been thinking about what I should talk about next. It's a hard decision since there are so many to choose from. I have chosen PRIVACY for this article.
I remember a time when I used to shut the door when going to the bathroom and taking a shower. I would only have an occasional knock of someone telling me that they needed to use the facilities and was wondering how much longer I would be. Since I have had my daughter (I will admit that these things are a little better now that she is almost 4), I cannot remember the last time I have been in the bathroom with the door shut at home! I remember being in the shower and having a little hand pulling back the shower curtain just to say hi. I used to always have an "audience" while sitting on the toilet. I still have a person to talk to while on the toilet but she will at least leave me along once in a while. I also have been forced to leave the bedroom door open while changing. Heaven forbid a door is shut! It took a long time to get used to having someone watch while I got dressed to get ready. Luckily I can distract her a little now (thank God for TV!).
These are all things that people do not tell you before you have kids. They are all things we figure out as we go along. I know the older she gets the better some things will get. I'm sure I will have a whole new list when she becomes a teenager!
