While driving down a country road the other day I had to do a u-turn and go back to take a few photos of the field I just passed by.

It’s a pumpkin field. The migrant workers were working the field so I knew it was now or never so here is what I saw.

The first field was full of tall weeds but you could still see the rows and row of pumpkins among the weeds.

Someone had even gone to the trouble to build a cairn out of pumpkins like the early Inuit Canadians (our first people) did to mark their special places, although they used huge rocks, not pumpkins. Can you see the sculpture?

The second field had been cared for so the weeds were not quite so thick. Notice how dry the earth is. It’s been over 120 days here with no measurable rain but it didn’t seem to hurt the pumpkins.

Last night it started to rain and it continues now – a good all-day soaker, just what we needed.

Hope youR pumpkins are big for a Happy Halloween.
