I had two sets of grandparents.. one who lived in Berlin, Germany and we saw infrequently and another who had a summer place up the road from us. My grandmother on my father's side was your typical grandmother, warm, loving and I have very fond memories of her. She recently passed away and I miss her every day! Thanks for asking!
My Mom's mother would make the neatest cakes and cookies. She would make doll cakes. The kind where you put a little doll in the center and the dress was the cake. They were so cool. 10 for good memories.
My maternal grandma was always giving us little things. On Easter, she would hide at least one egg for each of the grandkids that had more money in it than we really needed, and then subtly direct us to find that egg. She also used to make clothes for my Barbies, which were a lot of fun to have! :)
my mom's mom used to grow boysenberries for me and when we went to cali. for vacations we'd eat those and made chocolate covered frozen bananas, she used to fatten me up..
Simply being with my paternal Grandfather, fishing from his wooden punt on the Thames, talking with him, music, going to films with him and my Grandmother. I enjoyed his company so much and he was always who he was whether with prince or pauper. Until the age of nine or so, I spent good times during part of the Summer hols with my paternal Grandparents.
Whatever the season, visits with my maternal Grandmother in her country garden with fruit trees was always a joy! Listening to Grandmother reciting poems from memory was always a treat, too!
