As of today, I've now been a Gather member for one year. Boy how time seems to pass us by so fast. It seems like yesterday when I first joined Gather on 09-09-2006.
I was watching a show on CNN concerning illegal immigration where I saw an advertisement for Gather. I remember quite clearly that the advertisement said " Immigration..join the discussion on Gather "
Of course when I first joined, I thought that Gather was a website that was only about illegal immigration. Considering the fact that I had just recently been envolved in an ICE investagation concerning a possible Human Trafficking ring, I thought that Gather would be the perfect place for me to tell my story. So I posted my first article on Gather. Below is the url.

Then as time went on, I realized that I could post articles on Gather about other subjects and I did just that. I learned how to navigate the site and comment on articles about subjects such as music, politics, relegion and many more.
It didn't take me very long to start making some connections and it didn't take me very long to start losing some.
At first, most of my articles were receiving an average of about 6 comments. At that time, I was actually thinking about leaving Gather. However after some encouragement from John Knight and Travis B ....I decided to stick around for a while.
I took their advice and I decided to stick around and it paid off.
I would say that I have most enjoyed writing articles about Music. Music is passionate and most people can connect to music in some form or another.
Most of this rant was out of order, but I just had to get it out. It's hard for me to believe that I've been here on Gather for one year! Boy how fast time passes us by!

Congrats on your anniversary!
Sandy..you're still here..I'm still here..so yes..I'm happy!
I'm glad that you are sticking with it good for you!!!
I read all your articles and enjoy them, but I don't know much about music or the songs and artists since about the '60s when it became so loud and the singers all started sounded like they were from the south, and everyone else was deaf.
I have written a lot of articles for Gather in the last year, somewhere around 300 articles, most of them my own original stuff, but I have only reached more than 15 or 20 comments once or twice. I'm thinking of reincarnating myself - taking on a new persona. I wonder if I could fool anyone.
with it last month. It's fun, but it can be very addictive. I'm glad you're with us. Thanks
for sharing.
rain and winds of Hurricane Wil is doing very well (just kidding Wil - don't get offended).
I especially thought your recent thread "Card players and Illegal Immigration" is
destined to be a long time classic - great work.
Just curious, since I'm a musician. One favorite song that I play lead guitar on - I wonder if you'd call it Southern Rock - "Long May You Run" by Neil Young. (I think
it was also recorded by CS & N).
BTW ...Hurricane Wil made landfall again last night. This time as a category 5 !
Robert.....naw, that isn't considered Southern Rock..I think.
9.8.06 is when I first logged on. We met online the next day. Jackie Beltran, Senobia, and a few others were our favorites back then. Sure do miss 'em! BTW, WTF happened to Porgie?
And hey..I miss Jackie and Senobia too..boy those were the good ole' days wern't they!
both at once - they both have their good qualities.
BTW, my one year anniversary in gather is almost here too (Oct. 7). Too bad we're all
so far apart, or we could throw a party. Maybe when the weather starts getting cold
some of you Yan, er, northerners could come down here and visit us in sunny Florida.
Right now it's still hot here (mid 90's) - like an outdoor steambath.
Couple of years ago, they went through the whole alphabet. If there is, I might move to Alaska. Just kidding, Wil.
....
Now let me guess..would it be Timmmmmaaaaay ?
