A view of La Jolla Shores/Children's Pool
Looking South towards Mexico
A friendly seagull, up close
Another feathered friend
A closer look of the rocks
Looking into the west at high tide
The view looking north
This is the La Jolla Children's Pool, built originally for children. It is now a beautiful spot to visit wildlife (Seals, crabs, lobster, seagulls and much more)
The seals like to play out on the rocks, when the tide is high
It looks beautiful close up
You can walk out onto this landing. At your own risk at certain tide levels. ;-)
A little background history on the area: La Jolla Indians lived in the area for thousands of years. The name "La Jolla" has at least two meanings. "La Jolla" is the ancient Indian name meaning "the holes" probably referring to the many sea caves and rocky coast as well as to the coastal valley at La Jolla Shores. The Spanish word "la joya" means "the jewel" the site is quite a treasure. It is quite beautiful and inspiring. The small seaside community of La Jolla was popular early on for settlers. It remains a hot shot in San Diego today for its beaches, rejuvenating ocean waters and rugged coastline. The character of the town has changed since the first settlers came, but it still retains a special charm and beauty. I will publish another article, showing my family on this visit to the beach in San Diego/La Jolla.
This area has quite the debate going on with the seals, which is interesting in itself. The area is just beautiful. I do not mind respecting nature or the seals enjoying this area.
The top cove like"pool" is off limits to swimmers. If you visit at high tide there is plenty if room for wildlife and people. If you are ever near San Diego, come visit the shores in La Jolla.

Yesterday, I was caught in a hailstorm. Today it was just cold and windy.
No earthquakes though.
Next week, I think I'll go someplace beautiful like that but quite different.
I just posted another, of the same day, but family shots.
I may go again myself this weekend.
It's too pretty to pass up this time of year!
COOL!
I love to go at both high and low tide. Low tide is my favorite though,
you get to see more wildlife.
No earthquakes that I felt lately. hee hee hee
I was born in this area and have felt two that scared me.
Funny though, lightening scares me and hard rain.
There is not much of either here these days!
Thanks for stopping by.
