Fred Thompson's opening shot in launching his campaign on the Jay Leno show was impressive, but now he has to forget the sound bites and the folksy advice and get down to brass tacks. To begin with, he has to give the voters in the primary states a good reason to pick him over all the other Republican candidates.

We have had one great actor who was a good President, maybe this is our next one. He is sure a brust of freshness over what is being present to us by all the others in the race to the "TOP".

I for one, am anxious to see where he stands. We need a lesser of evils to vote for and it would be nice to see that in Thompson.

Kathy we had one actor, best known for being the narrator on 20 Mule Team Borax documentaries, definitely not a great actor, just an actor. And while I voted for him both times, in hindsight -- its pretty clear that he was not a "good" President. He buried our country in red ink, implemented an economic policy that is best described as catastrophic (cutting taxes for the wealthy coupled with massive increase in defense spending to bolster domestic manufacturing.) But he was good for the jelly bean business and he was funny!
