School supplies - Ugh!

Anyone else out there still trying to find school supplies. My kids don't get a list and tonight, my daughter tells me she needs three jumbo book sox and one teacher wants the book covered by tomorrow. So we shlep off to Office Depot and of course there are no book sox of any kind and the fellow there tells me he doubts I;ll find them anywhere. Now why can't the schools at least send out an email during the summer giving you an idea of what you need. I bought plenty of pencils,paper,etc, but I have no idea how big their books are going to be so I don;t know whether to buy regular covers,big covers,jumbo covers,etc. I told her to stick a plastic grocery bag on the book for tomorrow.

I spent over a $100 on school supplies between 3 kids.It's ridiculous!!!

What happened to the free paper ones schools would hand out along with the book? Remember those? It was a contest to see who could decorate it the best. **sigh**

I hate back to school shopping. I never had to buy this much stuff when I was a kid. And book covers? Well that is what the paper grocery bags were for.

Last year my grandkids had to cover their school books with grocery bags cut and folded to fit.

I shop when the sales are good about a month before school actually starts. It's been harder to find good sales this year and of all things Staples has a few good ones this week which of course we've already purchased at a more expensive price. I bought them anyway for mid year when things get low on good supplies.
