Why not? He has excellent name recognition. He has political experence. Articulate and intelligent. Has an aura of being very presidential looking, manner, and speaking.
Some say he doens't have the fire. I have heard this a couple of times. What is fire?
Is he too late? Why too late. We still have over a year till the November elections. The others are just way too early. This make him fresher then the rest, I think waiting to get in was a great idea.
Hey I would like more candidates to jump in. Keep this process interesting.

It is early in the race -in that no one dominates the Republican field.
It is easy to imagine that Thompson hangs onto his 33% of the Republican base, and stalls there.
Who is likely to flock to him that is not cheering him on already?
If he wants to be President, neither of these qualities are necessary.
All of that worked for them before.
I am still not sure if he is someone I would vote for or not, but looking better than anyone out there now, who I do not believe are worth any votes in the first place.
Now, if the Republicans are doomed, I just hope the current Democratic frontrunners don't doom the country ... this could be very bad.
The moonbats in charge of the Dem party still to this day haven't realized how much mainstream America distrusts and dislikes Hillary.
Oh well it's not like I won't be having a good time watching Democrats slice their own wrists(politically metaphorically speaking of course)
> haven't realized how much mainstream America distrusts

Could be, but it is apparent that the Republicans know for
sure just how pissed off the country is the hypcrisy, scandals,
abuse, and corruption and they know they will most likely
lose ... even against Hillary ... even against Obama.
Somehow I think this archetype throws out all the issues or at least deflates most of them. I think Hillary Clinton will be hard pressed not to have deeply ingrained responses to facing an older man of her father's generation in a campaign, and that America will not find it so easy to upset what has been the natural order ... even if Americans do want political change, I think deeper down they are resistant to biological change.
I have a bad feeling about both Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton for this reason. This is a crucial election and to pick this moment to gamble is like throwing away the last election by supporting Gay marriage at the last minute. Remember if was a "loyal?" Democratic mayor, Gavin Newsome, in my opinion that cost the Democrats the election in 2004 by starting off the whole morality thing and letting gays marry in San Francisco.
Times like there are times to crack down on the wackos in the Democratic party, and to not gamble on anything really different when we all need political change ... too much change scares people.
