While visiting one of my professors at my university, I saw this on her wall. I had to get a copy. Parents, teachers, and students: This is our world.
Then Simon Peter said, "Should we write this down?"
Then Andrew said, "Do we have to know this?"
Then James said, "Will we have a test on this?"
Then Phillip asked, "Is this for a grade?
Then Bartholomew said, "Do we have to turn this in?
Then John whined, "Other disciples don’t have to learn this."
Then Matthew said, "Can we get out early, today?"
Then Judas demanded, "What does this have to do with real life?"
And the other disciples asked likewise.
Then one of the Pharisees who was present asked for Jesus’ lesson plans, and his objectives in the cognitive domain.
And Jesus wept.
I found this in the English Department at my university. The source is unknown. It’s a comfort to educators.

I don't believe I've ever said any of that to an educator, but I have heard it many, many times.
I went to Catholic School. If a teacher spoke to you, you stood beside your desk, curtsied, and answered correctly. This is a different day.
