Unfortunately I see this a lot Lynn. Great haiku, says so much with so little words. Personal attacks just tell us that much more about what a person is like, the dark side unfortunately.

I feel like I need to comment that sometimes what might appear like a personal attack (at least on gather) has a lot of history behind it. It might look like someone isn't "playing nice" on a comment thread, or sounds hateful...but, behind the scenes there may have been messages sent, comments made and deleted, articles written and removed...that appear to make one person seem innocent and others guilty. I've been here a year...I know this to be true. I guess what I'm saying is that as with many other things in life, things aren't always what they seem to be.

This is a very good haiku to go with the title. Every pancake has 2 sides :0). I recently had something happen in the real world and people's true colors eventually show up for all to see

Sue - I wasn't necessarily talking about Gather, real life too. Ya get into a discussion, present the facts and when they have no facts, just opinions, they resort to the personal.

Lynn...good point. I guess I immediately think of Gather, because truthfully I've seen much more of it here than I have ever seen in my "real life." I think people get "braver" speaking from behind the screen. You've been here a long time too, you know what I mean.

Sue - Know whatcha mean. On a personal level I try to treat people on Gather as I do in real life, with decency. I don't always agree, especially when it comes to politics, religion or moral issues but feel I could talk til I'm blue in the face and won't change anyones mind. Useless chatter. I'll worship who I want, vote for who I want etc, to me its personal. You're right I'm a Gather veteran just as you, goin' on nineteen months here. ;))
