HI Audrey! Thanks for the invite. I'm not a big coffee drinker, but I do like hot chocolate. Of course, we might have to turn up the AC since it's not quite hot chocolate weather. LOL.
Weekend was nice, a lot of family parties - and a lot of "stuff" for the First Chapters contest. It's taken over my life these days...
Oh How nice it would be to be able to go to work again! On my 4th cup of coffee this mourning and have bread in the first stages. TV is n making noise to give the impression that somebody else is here.
Good for you Ed. My father smoked for 65 years and almost choked to death one day. He vowed to God that if he was spared he'd never smoke another, and he threw them in the trash and kept that promise. He lived to 90.
Oh< where in Germany? I have an adopted grand daughter (She lived with my son's family for a year as an exchange student) who lives in Iserlohn. She is going to college in the states this year.
The weather sounds interesting in Germany since it is so different from what we've had. My sister loves going to Germany especially at Christmas time to get gifts for the family. Your English is fantastic.
Lynn, when Natascha is here in the states she quickly assumes the English like we speak. You would never know she doesn't live here except for a very slight accent.
Wow. That's impressive. I think we need to start foreign languages in schools here during pre-school and keep them going all the way through. It certainly does help to know other languages. My husband has been working on cars for two weeks now. Fortunately one we kept driving, but the other is a major project. He's about finished it. Tonight he plans to just put parts back on after completing replacing some parts. But good car. Worth the effort.
Morning Kristin. Sounds like you will be back in full swing tomorrow. I volunteer at the elementary school near me but go back next Tuesday. It works better for all if the kids (Second grade level) get used to the teacher and new classroom first.
Hi again Judi, It isn't the links that don't work. It is me, I'm just learning to use the link feature and I don't always do it right. I will keep practicing and will get the hang of it.
My computer isn't working well this morning. I have to keep logging back on. I had to look up the coffee group the normal way. Had to post 3 times on an article to get it to post. So it's slow this morning for me. UGH !
If I post one of those crazy ohotos and say it is Greg it usually gets him to say something. Maybe he really isn't lurking this morning. Hi is BTW a great guy. Well most of the time. LOL
I couldn't get into "Ulysses" when I was in school. I barely remember what it was about. Of course given that I have been out of school for 50 yrs. that isn't surprising.
I try to start my gather day by commenting on 10 articles and then 10 images. Tehn when I have time I do more comments through the day and publish my own things. And I do like to chat so publish this article at times.
I will be here until 11 CDT then I go to the gym for my Tuesday workout. I do the gym workout Tues., Thurs., and Sat. , and walk 3 or 4 days a week at the mall. My GF and I always walk 3 miles each time. I guess I could do more but this helps keep me in good shape.
To be truthful, I didn't care for that type of literature. I waited for the movie to come out. LOL Now I'm reading second grade level stories. I try to find stories that are fun and instructional when I do a literature share with my second graders. I figure it kills two birds with one stone that way.
You too Sheryl. I think the article is winding down and it is time for me to get ready for the gym. Anyone who wants to chat feel free to stay here and continue.
Kristen - Gather is addictive - even without the contest. I've been active since the last FC contest and have been hangin' with the Wombats. They're chatty and before this contest we were working on first paragraphs for each other, etc. Then the contest got announced, and, well, it's addictive. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
As to Odyssey - show them Jason and the Argonauts or 300 (if they're of age, I don't know the grade you teach) to get them in the right frame of mind. That's what I'd do - if it's appropro in the school district. Visual is always better than the written word, especially to this generation. One you've got 'em interested, then spring the epic on them. Or, heck In Over Her Head has lots of Greek mythological references - you could bring 'em all online and they could read, vote... LOL
I think I am late for the morning club, and early for the evening club, but Hi anyway, sorry had things I had to take care of this afternoon, but dropped by anway, looks like everyone had a good time.

Gather can indeed take over your life if you let it. I liked your first chapter.
Audrey your fingers are cussing again. Maybe you should wash them with soap. W**K how could you type such a thing?
Ed are you retired, just plain tired or disabled?
It's not exactly morning for me, but I did want to stop by for a minute!
The idea for the coffee warmer is a great idea. And it's a good Christmas present idea. Glad you said that.
Hi Lynn, I got me cup warmer as a retirement gift and have been using it for over 6 yrs.
You sometimes see them on sale. I got therr of the vor 3.98 each once and gave them as gifts.
Have to kneed my bread, be back in 15 minutes
Sheryl, think of all the gas money you save.
My husband has been working on cars for two weeks now. Fortunately one we kept driving, but the other is a major project. He's about finished it. Tonight he plans to just put parts back on after completing replacing some parts. But good car. Worth the effort.
Sheryl, the links to my story are working - what other links aren't working?
And I'm looking at a VW bug - yellow convertible with a daisy vase. The kids will have to stay out of it!

Sheryl, I am happy to hear you can now walk a mile. Keep it up.
Have a wonderful day!
