What is the big deal with going to Las Vegas? I don’t see the attraction. I’m not unfamiliar with the fact that people love to gamble, hoping to win lots of money. It’s just that Vegas represents all that is wrong with the world to me. There’s too much sex, gambling, and violence in what I like to call “Sin City”.
My husband and daughter, 27, went to Vegas without me and that was just fine with me. My husband keeps saying that he wants to take me there. I don’t want to hurt his feelings but I’d rather go almost anywhere than to go to Vegas. My feelings were not hurt in the least that I did not go. (I have to dog sit with 4 dogs) I really just don’t get why they want to go.
I have never liked to gamble. It’s just not my thing. I don’t mind seeing all the lights and water shows and stuff like that but I would not enjoy watching scantily clad women on stage, all the booze drinking, and heavy smoking that would be all around you. I would be so uncomfortable that money would be wasted for me to go to Vegas.
Now Hawaii would be my kind of fun time. I absolutely enjoyed my one and only time there. The luaus, the beautiful ocean, beaches and everything to do with Hawaii was great. I just don’t get Vegas and why so many people are drawn there. That is life too fast and furious for me.
I’m expecting the Vegas trippers home tomorrow and I can’t wait to see them. They’ve been gone too long for me. I’m looking forward to hearing about all their adventures and look at all the pictures they’ve taken. I just hope that they are not going to try to talk me into going with them next time. I really hope the next time we all go to Hawaii instead.

Check out my pictures from there. I'm sure you'll be able to enjoy some of them.
We're going to see the Circque de Soleil, Spamalot, take the gondola tours at the Venetian and a lot more stuff that has nothing to do with drinking or sex. We're also going to the Grand Canyon on a helicopter tour from McGarran.
If you get the chance GO. Better to go and see what the fuss is all about than to sit back and worry that you might not like it all. At least you can claim to have seen it rather than condemn it based on hearsay.
All the bad things Vegas represents can be found in ANY major city in the country. They have simply embraced the mystique and capitalized on it. The place is beautiful by day or night and if you search online first, you'll find it's not what the rumors claim it to be.
Begin with the major hotels like the Luxor, Bellagio, Venetian, the Trump and the Wynn. Just look at what they have to offer INSIDE and then imagine an entire city built on that. It's basically Disney for Adults. Nothing more.
My point is that no one has a right to condemn something unless they've experienced it for themselves.
I only tried to give an opinion because I've been there.
Not wanting to fight - peace, please. I just came back from two weeks in Vegas. I didn't gamble, smoke, drink or meet ONE prostitute. We toured the hotels, saw some shows, walked the streets safely and what do we get at dinner one night?
We were at the restaurant of the hotel where O.J. was arrested. Every cop and sheriff it seemed were there. We were scared because we thought it was a terrorist attack or something.
Later while watching the news about a terrible accident my wife called me to the TV, and exclaimed that it looked like our hotel from the air. I looked out the window and there was a news copter just above our hotel shooting the scene. A man passed out from a diabetic episode and ran into a crowd of walking people injuring over 20 of them.
Vegas isn't for everyone. My point is you can go there and have a good time without having to face the seedy side of the city but that's in any city in the world. Vegas just makes a living off of it. The sights are spectacular and the entertainment is first class and it's affordable. They will forever suffer from their reputation so why not capitalize on it.
Ask your husband and daughter what they did, what they saw and find out first hand about how they felt. It may or may not surprise you.
I wish you the best.
