Well, the long weekend is winding to a close and it's back to reality for many of us tomorrow. How did you spend your weekend? Did you stay at home or head off for an adventure? Did you have to work or get some much need time off? Did you laze around or get a lot done around the house?
On Friday we had our son's IEP at school, to plan his educational goals for this new school year. Friday night we ordered in pizza as a treat, as I was a good girl and cooked all week.
Saturday we planned to go swimming but it rained for hours and here that means things will remain wet and icky long after the rain stops. Instead we browsed different stores and bought a few things. We headed to Blockbuster for DVD's -- they sell 3 or 4 for $20 if you buy used, relatively new releases. So we saw "The Last Mimzy" and it was better than we expected. I love family movie time. We pop the popcorn, dim the lights, and it's better than the theater because we can pause for the many potty breaks 6 people need during the show!
On Sunday we headed off for Epcot at Disney World. We went on Soarin', then took the "Living with the Land" boat tour of Disney's greenhouse, where they grow crops using innovative technology. They use the fruits and veggies in the park restaurants. The Living Seas was next. We got to see a diver swim up into the aquarium, which was a first for the kids -- I saw it when I was a kid. When we came out from the Nemo ride, the line was probably a good hour wait. We had walked right on!
We originally were going to have lunch at The Electric Umbrella, a counter service restaurant but decided to try to eat in one of the countries. We managed to hike completely around the World Showcase before landing in Canada, who gave us a reservation at Mexico (our favorite anyway) for 15 minutes later! When we arrived in Mexico, a party of 6 ahead of us was told they'd have an hour wait as the reservations had all just been booked for lunch. Irish luck for ya. My 2nd oldest son tried the Mahi Mahi off the kids menu and absolutely loved it! After lunch we took the 3 Caballeros boat ride.
We headed back to Future World, only to realize the wait for Test Track, one of our favorite stops, was an hour! We have walked right on to that one too many times to wait that long. So we headed over to Imagination Institute, which is never very crowded, to see Figment dance around and learn about the senses. This is a big favorite for our family! Before heading home, we went to O Canada to see the new film, but realized it was a 360 degree screen (which means hot tired sweaty smelly tourists standing up the whole time). Plus it smelled really funky in the waiting area, which is unusual for Disney attractions! So we went outside for the breeze off the waterfall. And my oldest son cashed in his good behavior tokens he's saved up for a Goofy hat he's wanted for months! (Our kids earn 1 token (aka poker chip) per day each day they do more good than bad. LOL. Each is worth 50 cents for just about whatever they want to buy.)
Today was a more lazy day. Well, except that the kids and the puppy decided Mommy should get up at 5:30a.m. That was not an auspicious start! I attempted to go back to sleep but there was a yipping puppy, noisy kids telling each other (loudly) to be quiet, and slamming doors open and shut. I settled for a nap on the couch later during a marathon of "Little People, Big World" on TV. Epcot had wiped me out, so I really wasn't as productive as I like to be. So I grabbed our older dog and 3 of the kids and we took a short walk down the block and back. My fibromyalgia and the heat wouldn't allow for anything longer! It got the blood flowing and I got a lot done the rest of the day!
But, back to work tomorrow. Hubby had to work a few shifts this weekend. And back to school for the munchkins. How 'bout at your house?

At least I got to go to my in-laws for a "cookout" Sunday afternoon.
My wife and my oldest daughter have been sick since Friday with a summer cold.
My main computer at home died. The secondhand replacement I bought didn't work.
Our main computer is AWOL too. Luckily we know a reliable place that will fix it up cheaply but don't have the extra money just now. I'll have to do it soon though, to get my printer back up and running. Using the laptop for now.
Mary - I would of rather gone to Epcot! :D But only 64 more days before my next trip!
Yeah, I know where I can get mine fixed cheap too - but I think I have to wait til next payday! (Although I'm supposed to be saving for our trip to WDW in December!)
