Mexican Jumping Beans

I just saw a segment on the Today show about the Queen and King of the Mexican Jumping Beans.  Apparantly they own the largest Mexican Jumping Bean Company in the world.

I learned that Mexican Jumping Beans are actually little moth larvae.  It was pretty interesting to learn more about something that I loved as a child.

Moth larvae yuck and interesting.

I used to be fascinated with them. They would be under the tree at the park I played in as a child.

I was always freaked out by those when someone brought them for show and tell.

I haven't thought about these in decades! Used to love them as a kid. I must admit I was a little grossed out when I found out exactly what they were, but that didn't keep me from enjoying them!

Yes we had them way back when, so I guess there is nothing new about them, and my kids enjoyed them too. I knew what was inside them, but back then, nothing bothered me, I might think a bit about it now.

I just saw some this weekend in a hardware store of all places! It immediately brought back memories. I think my daughter would think they're cool!
