The Pentagon has drawn up plans for massive airstrikes that would eliminate the Iranian army in three days. This is an intresting approach as it will not require boots on the ground and would be a quick victory and get immediate results.

"Collateral Damage" should not be the overwelming concern. They have supported this rouge government if we can nuetralize their army we will be much better off and not as many Americans will have to risk their lives
You need to learn how to think, not just run off at the keyboard.
Two considerations here. First, that we can do it does not make it right!
Second, if we can do it and not put boots on the ground, then we finished in Iraq four years ago! Why are we still there? If Iraq requires boots on the ground for an occupation of sorts, would not Iran require the same? Apparently we are going to stay in Iraq until Osama, the Saudi, signs the articles of surrender!
Modern, your way of thinking here gets in the way of waving the American flag!
And all for oil. How disgusting and immoral.
FAVOR the US and Israel. I did not see where vickey said in any way that she sees them as equal in making a decision. Personally, yes I DO Favor the US in every matter especially concerning foreign affairs. If the US makes a decision that is in agreement with Israel, guess it goes along without saying that I favor the decision of my country and government. I personally believe that to support a country other than your own is moral treason.
Sorry pp, I'm not really in a mood to play semanitcs games with you.
When our government (and citizens of a young US) killed Indians, again it was with the blessing of the government. I did not say it was a moral decision, but with the laws of the time, it was indeed legal.
This is the last time I will respond to you on this thread PP, you keep jumping all over the place touching on many subjects.
To finish this dialogue, please understand that I support my government and her leaders whether I agree with the actions or inactions to be in compliance with my morals or not. "Render unto Caesar". There are laws now that are in direct contradiction to my moral beliefs, but they are the laws. As long as I am not forced to act in any way that contradicts my beliefs we're good. If ever faced with that dilema, I will deal with whatever the consequences may be. The fact is that ever being put into such a dilema will not happen as long as our great country continues to strive for our freedoms, both personal and countrywise. God Bless America.
Insanity.

ModernDay - I have some problems with this idea of air power smashing the Iranian military. First, it gives the idea that all things will be fixed in 3 days. Now, I don't believe that Bush buys that - but the idea will be sold by the wrong people to set us up for failure.
Secondly, air power doesn't hold anything. You need "boots on the ground" for that. Whether they are Iranian revolutionairies (as in Afghanistan) or others, lasting results won't come solely from the air bombardment.
The fact that we are planning this (actually, I'm sure this has been planned for years - military contingency planners do this sort of thing all the time for many, many scenarios) and letting it be known in such a public forum is like taking a shot across the bow of the Iranian ship of state.
