I went to the mall today. I'll admit it, my Victoria's Secret cards were burning a hole in my wallet. $50 to spend on whatever I wanted. Joy! I tried on a few bras, didn't love any except the one I always love (which I have 7 of), so I opted to wait. On my way out the door, I browsed a few clearance racks and found some cute nighties on clearance for $20-25 each. I found a $20 one and a $25 one, and bought those.
Then, my older daughter, Raegan, and I went across the hall to Bath & Body Works, where we both looked around. She found some American Girl bath sets she liked, on sale for $8.75, so she talked to the sales woman (I'd guess she was close to my age- 29ish) about how long the sale was going.
After hearing that it ends on Monday, Raegan came over to me, and told me the same info, and added in "Mom" at some point. A moment later, the sales woman came up beside me and said, "Did she just call you mom? You look so young!"
So, I explained, I'm 29, she's 11, yep, I'm the mom. She said she had guessed we were sisters because we look so alike, and I look so young.
Yep, that was the highlight of my day. :p

Mary, that's great! Glad your SIL had a good attitude about it. I'd have say and cried if I had heard that. ;)
The worst, though, is some of the parents you occasionally encounter at schools, who KNOW how old your child is.
and 39 so young
and 50 bucks don't get you far in a mall these days
Turns out, though, she does have enough, so we're probably going back tomorrow to get it!
And Peter, I'm 29, not 39! ;)
I like how your daughter is already being thrifty, great job Mom!!!
It does make one feel good to hear that doesn't it?!
Once I went to pick up a friend of my daughters', and his mom started thowing fits about him going out with a bunch of girls to the fair with no supervision blah blah blah. When I told her I didn't appreciate it being assumed that I as irresponsible. She threatened to call my mother!!! I said "I am the mother"!!! Boy that didn't go over to well. She thought we were all lying.
It took about 10 minutes of my girls telling her I was their mom, a check of my DL and military ID, before she "got" it. She just could not believe I was the mother!
Funny but annoying as heck. People should stop being so judgemental about a persons looks.
