Angel of the night 

As my thoughts race

restless,

in my worried mind.

And dream I chase

you hopeless,

despair I find

I see your face

but darkness

drives me blind

 

I close my eyes in tears

I head your call

As the rain drops die

I know you’re near

You say I’m fine

And then I hear

it loud and clear:

“your dreams I fear

will never come true”

But I don’t mind

So long as

I am with you

And then I see your face

 

My one true Angel

Angel of the night

When love is lost

And danger

looms around the corner

I know you will be there

My night Angel

 

I run and I run

No where to hide

I race the train

I ride the tide

And I soak the pain

way deep inside

And then I see your face

I'm not really into poetry, but I have a soft spot for angels, so I gave this a read on that basis. I'm glad I did. It was a powerful piece.

I am with Bonnie L. I love the "darkness drives me blind" line. I love the double meaning that can be taken there and makes the reader (at least this one) try to discover more of the poem.
