Sailboat Quilt

Here's the Sailboat Quilt, all finished:

The size just got away from me: this one ended up finished at 95 inches x 138 inches!!

This one took me quite a while to piece, but not so much time to quilt. I did some fancy stitches on the crazy blocks that I used for the border. I actually started out with the idea of using the crazy blocks for my water except that I found a really good water fabric later, and used it instead. But I didn't want to give up my blue crazy blocks, and thought a border would work with it. I also tried to include specific details from San Diego like the shapes of the buildings (for instance, in this last photo you can see something sticking out of the building the the left of the '2007'...? That's the enormous flag that is on top of that building. My husband used to work in that building when we lived in San Diego from 1994-1997. I loved living there!!

not TOO exhausted...I had three days off (Wed-Thur-Fri) and got two more quilts pieced and ready to quilt...some days are just more productive than others. One of those is the strawberry shortcake quilt, go check that one out too.

That would fit my king sized bed I think, wow that is beautiful Mary, are you keeping that one for yourself, They so beautiful, I am amazed at all the detail you put into this one. just great.

No, Elsie, I donated this for our organization's annual conference. I started doing that about 5 years ago and now it is one of the bigger fundraisers for our organization. Next year's conference is in New York City and I'm thinking of making a scrapbook quilt, because it will be our organization's 20th year. Our group is called the Technical Women's Organization (TWO).

Thanks everyone, for your comments! I just talked to a friend of mine at the conference (Barb) and she said that the girl she was rooming with won the quilt! She said also that they will get back to me on how much it earned. Usually it brings in between $400-$500.
