Whether it was a moving story, a new friend or connection, a great recipe or a nugget of wisdom, feel free to share. I don't know where to start because in the short time I've been here, I have already gained so much. But I'll try to list just a few things, although I can't provide links or it would take all night:
1. A recommendation for a new book from a Gather reader, called Town House, soon to be made into a movie
2. Kind words and the sense of being understood by another adoptive mother, which made me feel like someone else knew some of the daily challenges I faced, adopting an older child.
3. Testimonies from people who'd endured cancer, celebrated the birth of a new baby, wanted to share a story about their family or moving poetry. Some just wanted to celebrate a new day and others wrote the first chapters of their books for us to read and, hopefully, we'll read the entire books some day.
4. Live chats with authors and otghers.
5. Great photography, photos of famly pets, landscapes and more.
6. Intriguing questions, everything from "Name one object in your house?" to "Who has Changed your Life the most?"
7. Recipes to save the day when I can't bear to make the 'same old, same old" yet ANOTHER time.
8. Humor when I'm feeling down.
Okay, YOUR TURN. Name one thing, name a zillion. Provide links or not. What do you recall being a favorite moment on Gather?

Other times, I just want a quick joke or stop by the What Have You Learned Today? group to get a nugget of wisdom.
That made me think about missing my Mom but this time my eyes only misted and no tears fell. That was a moment were I could see how much gather 's crowd has helped through my grief since I submitted my for article about her death this May.
Doesn't matter what I write, I miss my Mom. But the distraction of having so many good people who send comments and messages and links is the equivalent to a lot of hugs. Or maybe being able to comment and encourage people here allows me to transfer some of the energy surrounding her death to more productive activities. This is working for me
