My Maple Tree Is Starting To Change Color

     I looked out from my window this morning and noticed that the leaves of my hard maple are starting to show some color.  It is still August so this is indeed early for this to be happening.  If we had been having a dry sumer I might expect it, but we have had abundant rains all summer.  Perhaps this means that we will have fall color for much longer this year.   I wouldn't mind that as the autumn leaves are one of natures true beauties.

     I wonder what trees are doing in the rest of the coutry.  Are your leaves beginning to change colors?

All our trees have been turning brown for weeks now. The extreme heat (100 and over for weeks at a time) and the fact that we are in an extreme draught is causing them to look like its fall already. They say the trees are showing damage, I sure hope they all don't die.

Not yet here in PA, Audrey. Fall is a beautiful time of year, but I dread the thought of it coming because I know what is around the corner. UGH!!!

Moggy described the trees here, but recent rains have created new green leaves at the end of branches.

Everything here is still green and probably will be until january.

That is so beautiful! I love the changing of the leaves. I don't really get that in California but what I can be happy about is that year round there are always flowers!
We are in the middle of summer here it seems - East Texas. No trees changing as of yet.

My Oak tree the leaves are turning brown. We have been having a very hot summer with very little rain. My Bradford Pear tree is holding up great.

I have lost one of the bushes in front of my house and a few more will be gone if we don't get rain soon.

We are on water restrictions, so when I do water I try to give both trees and the bushes the most of the water.

Not yet. All the leaves are green. But I think our leaves change later. Since it doesn't snow in my area.

Don't want it to be that time of year..Make it stop.. go out and beat the tree with a rolled up newspaper to get the sap flowing again..

I'll have to take a closer look at our maple -- it always looks so pretty when the leaves change!

Yep I knew it! Mother nature is all upset about people trying to take the responsability for Global Warming that winter is going to start early. I heard her say it. "I'll teach the people Global Warming! I'll just bury them in snow and cold."

Moral == Don't mess with mother nature.

It has been a very hot summer for us, a strange one and no sign of letting up much. Plus it has been very dry. On very dry years we get a little color and then straight to brown. It will probably be Oct. before we see any and then precious little. Too bad, I love that time of year.

So far all is still green in Sioux City, IA, but I don't expect it to stay that way. Last night got down to like 57 degrees so! It's coming.

Nope...the onl tree that has changed color is dying....really wierd to look outside and see one brown tree.

Audrey, the same has been going on it the Pocono Mountains here in PA. They started changing mid August. The leaves that are changing are mostly a bright red. I was concerned also since I've never seen them change this early. We are going this weekend and I'll have to try to get some pictures. Very odd.

I think that picture is gorgeous! And one of the main disadvantages of living in Texas, as we have no seasonal change...ok, actually we do, but it lasts for about 12.7 minutes at no dependable time of day...

Some of my trees have changed color, but I think it's due to the stresses of heat, drought, and road construction, and not the normal change in seasons. I just hope that they haven't suffered too much and are healthy next summer.

Autumn is my favorite season, and I wait all year for the changing of the colors! I'll be glad when they begin to turn down here in Texas! Thanks for sharing yours with us! It lifted my spirits and reminded me that cooler weather is on the way!

I love to see trees that change colors. Krissy is your nose growing again. In Texas its mostly evergreens The others turn brown and ugly and fall off to rake. I going to her house and see what kind of trees she has. LOL.

Our sycamore trees always start to let loose of their leaves her in OK. I wonder if the winter is going to be a bit longer than usual because of the color change so early? Usually colors aren't changing until mid Sept?

When I was in OK last Nov. Many of the trees still had their leaves and it was quite pretty.

We're mostly green, a few leaves are turning early. Some others are just dying from the drought.

but then again...I don't get out much! I love fall colors tho....my grumpy husband just says it's the leaves dying and why should that be so cool. So then, I punch him! LOL not really on the punch. I just roll my eyes at him and tell him he has no imagination.
