Who is your Role Model?

Who inspires you to do your best?

I have many role models, one of whom is Louisa May Alcott, a writer from the mid-1800s who supported her family and her transcendentalist father with her wriitng, some of it pulp fiction potboilers, but best known for the Little Women adn Eight Cousins series.

She became famous when she wrote "girls books" based on her sisters and their lives.

Harriet Beecher Stowe is at the top of my list. She brought to attention the horrors of slavery in her classic nove.,"Uncle Tom's Cabin. When she met Abraham Lincoln he said,"So your the little woman who wrote the book who started this great war" She was beyond the era in which she lived in. She dared to stand for what she believed in and I think that makes her one hell of a roll model.

Don't think I've ever had one. I can think of people who influenced me in various ways but nobody really inspired me.

Nippy, Yes Daddy Alcott had his head too far in the clouds to be any earthly good. I am always suspect of transcendance.....immanence makes more sense to me.

Kylee, Stowe made her mark on a generation and more. That is certainly a standard to live up to.

Sorry, but you know I do not like Emily Dickenson (Yellow Rose of Texas poet) but the women who always inspired me was Andre Norton, she wrote science fiction when it was more than not expected or imagined. I wrote her a letter in the early 90s and she reponded with a letter and a signed bookmark. if you influence is still living, make contact and tell the author you enjoy the work - no one get tired of a pat on the back.
