Weird Things Goin' On
on Gather ...
For starters ... the past three hours I have been getting error messages when ever I try to click on someone's icon or the link to their homepage. It's the grey page with the message that it cannot find server http://some-name.gather.com ... even freakin' weirder ... I get the same type of error message if I click on my own icon!!!
I had similar problems late this afternoon when I ran a search on groups. The search function finally returned some results for a change, but each time I clicked one of the group icons or the printed link the system would churn and churn and then eventually go to a system error like the one above but displaying the group's URL. I finally gave up after clicking on a half dozen groups without getting the group page to load.
I can navigate to My Gather and my Gather mailbox using the tabs at the top of the page.
From my MY Gather page I can click on articles and images from my connections and that content will load. But no go trying to click on any of the four icons listed in My Connections, or clicking the printed link by my friends name . Clicking either of those just gets the error message.
Also during this time I have been able to publish articles and photos with little trouble (well except that this one article keeps breeding and spawning additional version, but that has been a constant at Gather ever since I joined)

I don't get pop-ups on Gather except the little
application windows in the publishing tool ...
I finally got to some pictures to look at. I would click on next and it would take me to a random picture of MINE, not the person whose original picture I had been looking at. So then I would click on previous and it took me to an OLD picture that I had posted.
Gather has the strangest glitches. Always something new.
I clicked on the 10 stars rating for a picture of Dick D's last night and it gave him an 11.2!!!
At least it prompted me to run a spyware checker on my machine. I kept getting a generic spyware like linkfarm whenever I tried to go to my content. Not any more though. I'll place the blame 50/50 between Gather and myself.
