Jalal'ud-Din Rumi, 1207 - 1273. Sufi mystic and poet, and founder of the Mevlevi order of "whirling" dervishes. His poetry is often cited as the very definition of Sufi mysticism. Well worth looking into, Bob. This quote is from the poem "Put This Design in Your Carpet" on p. 129 of The Essential Rumi (translations by Coleman Barks with John Moyne). I highly recommend The Essential Rumi.
