If It was planned out nI could absolutely love it!during spring or fall some good books a camera ,tablets of paper and some water purification tablets and a companion would be essential. If it was not planned but was done to stay alive,I believe I could do it also.adrenalin pumping to save a loved one or myself I know I would be able to do it...and if a child was there make it almost a game.
I'm afraid I wouldn't enjoy it much but probably chief in my concerns would be how to do the enormous mountain of laundry that 6 people generate without a washing machine!
I lived down in Tennessee about ten years ago in just those circumstances. I did have a car and a job, but that was it as far as convenience goes. We lived in a tiny camper with no water (we hauled it in 5-gallon buckets) and heated it over a kerosene heater. We didn't have electricity. We had oil lanterns and one Coleman for light. We only used the Coleman lantern when it was cold because it put off so much heat. Mostly, we cooked outside over a fire, but eventually got a small propane tank for the camper stove...what a luxury! I came away from this experiences with two obvious changes in attitude. Without TV, radio, etc I learned what peace and quiet really is. I could hear the cat walking around outside. More importantly, I learned respect. I understand what's important now, and I'm very grateful for what I have. I thank God every time I turn a tap and water comes out of a faucet. Things like that, most people take for granted. Not me. Ten years later and I still conserve water as though I still had to carry it inside in a bucket.
Yes I agree Rebecca, we do take things for granted, what to some are luxuries, like having running water, TV and a cooker. Janna I remember the days when I had to wash a weeks clothing in a large kitchen sink, it does give you stronger hands and back, from standing for so long.
