The Hopi and Maya had much in common and I wouldn't doubt it. The Hopi are a wonderful people (literal translation is "People of Peace"). Their predictions have been amazingly accurate.

According to Hopi prophecy, there are 9 steps before the 5th world appears:

"This is the First Sign: We are told of the coming of the white-skinned men, like Pahana, but not living like Pahana men who took the land that was not theirs. And men who struck their enemies with thunder.

"This is the Second Sign: Our lands will see the coming of spinning wheels filled with voices. In his youth, my father saw this prophecy come true with his eyes -- the white men bringing their families in wagons across the prairies."

"This is the Third Sign: A strange beast like a buffalo but with great long horns, will overrun the land in large numbers. These White Feather saw with his eyes -- the coming of the white men's cattle."

"This is the Fourth Sign: The land will be crossed by snakes of iron."

"This is the Fifth Sign: The land shall be criss-crossed by a giant spider's web."

"This is the Sixth sign: The land shall be criss-crossed with rivers of stone that make pictures in the sun."

"This is the Seventh Sign: You will hear of the sea turning black, and many living things dying because of it."

I've studied them since I was a kid because their ancestors were the cliff dwellers of our Desert Southwest and the Sinagua (without water). Unlike the Native Americans of the Plains, they weren't migratory and developed not only a sophisticated culture, but marvelous feats of architecture and engineering 2,000 years ago. The dwellings at Waupatki, Mesa Verde, and Chaco Canyon are still standing today.

I originally moved back to Arizona when I was researching my second novel which was about the Ancestral Puebloans (they hate the name Anasazi because that literally means "Ancient Enemy") to study with the elders (I'm about 100 miles from Kykotsmovi, their Capitol on First Mesa).

The nine signs that I listed above began over a thousand years ago. You'll notice the first sign predicted the invasion of the white men...500 years before Columbus. Where had they ever seen a fair skinned man?

The Hopi are revered by most of the other Native Americans as the spiritual leaders. A few years ago (1993), a delegation of the Motee Sinom (First People) led by Mr Thomas Banyacya, spoke before the United Nations General Assembly to explain their prophecies and pray for peace. A transcript of his speech is here.

He ended shis speech with the following: "I hope that all members of this assembly that know the spiritual way will not just talk about it, but in order to have real peace
and harmony, will follow what it says across the United Nations wall: "They will beat their swords into plowshares and study war no more." Lets, together, do that now!"

There is no knowledge of the Hopi ever having been at war with anyone.

There is a wonderful book by Dr. Allen Ross, "Mitakuye Oyasin: We Are All Related" that gives the full story, and the legends and prophecies of 33 other tribes.

I know about the Maori. The first ones that are now in many cultures have exactly the same predictions. Reading the Hopi legends about the coming of the fifth world, is almost verbatim to the Christian book of Revelations.

Walker, have you been to Puye Cliffs in Frijoles Canyon between Los Alamos and Espanola NM on Santa Clara Pueblo land? It is smaller but better preserved than the areas you mention.

I am so drawn to the Santa Claras who are Tewa related. But we are all One in spirit and truth.

Thank you for reinforcing the message of hope from the Hopis and the arrival of Blue Star. During a mediation a few months ago, I saw a huge Blue Star grace the planet but didn't know what it meant because just before I saw the Blue Star, I saw a Native American man.
