Gather as the new Myspace?

I was talking to a friend through e-mail the other day and mentioned Gather.  This friend was the one who first showed me this site.  I don't think he comes here much anymore and I have noticed a slow exodus of people.  Or am I imagining things?

When I asked him what he thought of Gather nowadays his response was, "Gather seems to be more and more like Myspace"  I thought about that. 

I tried Myspace once and quickly left.  For starters I felt very old being there.  I think if you are over thirty you quickly begin to feel like a moldy oldy.  So other than the fact that it seems to be a site for the younger folks, I really don't know much about it.

Things certainly have changed here on Gather these past months.  The content and climate seem very different than what it once was.  But I still like Gather very much.  There are some good people here and good writing too.  Just might be harder to find the writing nowadays. 

Everything changes in time. 

So what are your thoughts about the evolution of Gather?  Are there other writing/blogging sites you like just as much or better?
