We stayed in the Presidential suite which had the best view ever! I snorkeled for the first time, which was quite a sight to see until I got the hang of it. I drank Corona's and margarita's and ate good food, got a foot massage, a body massage and a facial, went shopping, laid in the sun, drank Corona's and Margarita's, (Oh wait, I already said that :) and various other things along the way.
I went with my boyfriend and his family!
It was just 5 days, but we saw all the sights (they were all cleaned up with no scaffolds) and they were all open because it was the millenial year. We walked into St. Peter's through the jubilee door... it's only open for one year every so many years (7 or 50 ?). We took in Rome, the Vatican City and rode a bullet train to Florence . All this during the Carnivale holiday.(March) when it was cool weather and very un-crowded.
Just a totally awesomne time!
The best part was staying in a jungle cabina that was 500' above the Pacific with the jungle in back. The best of both worlds. We had an outdoor shower that looked out to sea and a hammock on the front porch. I could lay there and hear the crashing surf and see dolhpins and boats. I looked out on a tree ablaze with yellow blooms that were swarming with butterflies and hummingbirds. At any given moment, a troop of monkeys could swing by the cabina. Oh, and scarlet macaws perched in the trees around us.
I told my husband I could have stayed in that hammock the rest of my life.
And the food.............. !!!!
Heaven on earth.
From Corona's on the beach to monkey's in the trees to railroading across Europe...
African safari's and Nashville hits (i've been there- wonderful) ... great stuff!
thanks for posting these great travel experiences.
headed for Saco, Maine all mapped out too!
This was my one and only vacation! I took my son
Bill, daughter Michelle, niece Patti Ann, our friend
Annette. Packed up the station wagon and left
at 1:00 in the morning to beat the traffic and the
heat! We went to Saco, Maine and Old Orchard
Beach. We arrived at 7ish and Pandora Buttons
cottages office opened at 7:30. And we were in
luck as she had on cottage left! She asked me if
all these children were mine I said yes. She gave
me a huge discount because we all had sleeping
bags, pillows and such, and wouldn't be using the
linens or towels. We drove down to the beach on
the first day but walked the rest of the time cause
it cost to much to park and I was trying to save as
the kids wanted to go to the amusement parks. It
was quite a blast too, all the rides were crazy and
fast! When we went in, there was a booth where I
got a roll of tickets for a reasonable price and the
kids went on all the rides and talked me into going
on one with them! The Silver Streak! And it sure did
streak. We stayed for the day, I packed a lunch and
drinks for the day. We did have fried bread dough at
the park it was delish! This was at Saco Beach. Then
we went to Old Orchard Beach and had a blast there.
We were up bright and early down to the beach daily.
The last night we were there it was the 4th of July and
the fireworks on the beach were fantstic! For two hrs.
the most beautiful array and the reflection on the ocean
made it that much more grandeur!! We made new friends
while we were there, my Momma and her sister were there
also so we had it all! What a great time we all had and I
worked hard and saved money for that vacation and it was
worth it! I'll remember this for ever, such fun with all those
kids and never was there a harsh word said.
There you have it Matt!
Just Me

Plus we went to the Ocean, on a coffee plantation tour, rainforest, and more while we were there!
The other would be another trip my husband and I took when living in Colorado. We drove to Texas to visit family and then spent a few days on the road driving through New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and back to Colorado. We made many stops along the way including a 2 night camping trip at the Grand Canyon! It was marvelous.
We hope one of our next trips will also be to Costa Rica!
