I am chasing my thoughts,
they're fleeing from me,
careening around corners,
not letting me see.
The cargo they're carrying,
in caricature style,
could be my career,
if they'd stop for awhile.
I would barter my carbonated water,
that leaves caramel color in my carafe,
if only this caravan of scattered thoughts,
cared to dispel my dismay.
A cardiovascular exercise regimen,
failed with the cardiac arrest I had,
while carelessly pursuing my thoughts,
from Carolina to Carlsbad!
My brain is left as a carcass,
not caring the thoughts that I think,
placing them in a cardboard box,
for carnivores to pick at their stink.
Writer's block carried my careening thoughts afar,
discarding them precariously out of my reach.
I'm scarcely minding my own cardinal rule-
"Don't become scared; learn what the moment can teach!"
carafe- container for serving drinks
cardiovascular- relating to heart and blood vessels
cardiac arrest- heart attack
Carolina- either North or South Carolina, a state in the United States
Carlsbad- a city and resort in southwestern California
carnivore- flesh eating animal
