Bush today said that if Iran gets nuclear weapons it will threaten the security of nations everywhere. He went on to say that we cannot live under the threat of Nuclear Holocaust. As against the war in Iraq I was in the beginning I understand the threat of Iran. This is of course inconvient because our nation no longer feels hurt from the attack of 9/11. We have turned in to an isolationist country because of 24/7 new media who think wars are won in hours. I am sure this article will be bashed, but it is time to take off the partisan blinders and see we should not allow another Cold War. We must stop terrorists now before they take nukes from a militant government like Iran and start destorying US Cities.

I also love how Israel gets dragged into these conversations.
I do not buy, based on credible evidence available to us everyday Americans, that Iran has anything to sell to terrorists to do us harm in the USA. I'm probably more concerned that the old Soviet Union has nuclear materials and devices all over the place. What are we doing about that?
On top of that, the economy is in terrible shape in Iran and the Iranians are pretty upset about it. These are not Iraqi's - these people are for the most part pretty well educated and knowledgable about the world. There is a lot of discontent in Iraq with the present leadership. Ahmadinejad can rant all he wants - there are people in the Iranian government who have reign over him. At this point, after all the "axis of evil" spewing that Bush and Co. have done over Iran, I wouldn't be surprised if they are just giving him some rope to stick it to Bush a little on the world stage as payback. The more Bush mouths off about Iran, the more poofed up Ahmadinejad gets in return. If he could just keep his mouth shut and move wisely with the rest of the world on sanctions, Ahmadinejad would hang himself in his own country without us lifting a finger.

Bret- I think the french are on the tab on this one
"How many articles have you written about Iran now?"
two
So, how would you view the approach of Bush shutting up about Iran and joining in with other countries in the world to impose and enforce sanctions?
To date, what has w. been right about?
What's Iran got that makes them more dangerous than the half-dozen other theocracies with nuclear weapons? Nada.
I see it as more scare tactics to try to drum up support for a war nobody wants.
1. They have WMD, nukes, ties to terrorism, we'll be treated like liberators, they are a threat to the security of America, etc.,etc. Scott Ritter said a few months back that Iran has broken NO international laws.
2. If we are going to invade a country that has nuclear weapons, ties to terrorism, an unstable dictator, and DOES threaten the security of America, don't you think it should be Pakistan ?
Bu$h is a lier. Practically everything he says is either a lie, or half truths meant to scare us into submission. Think about his predictions in the past. How many have come
true ?
Russia Moves to Protect Iran
Adjust font size:
Russian Security Council chief Igor Ivanov on Sunday gave a thinly-veiled warning to any country attempting to cover interference in Iran's internal affairs by using Iran's nuclear program as cover.
"We oppose attempts to use this issue as an instrument of pressure or interference in Iran's internal affairs," Ivanov told the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, a Russian think-tank regrouping politicians, officials, experts and business leaders.
Nuclear nonproliferation is an issue which touches the whole world not just Iran, said Ivanov, while calling Iran to meet the world's worries with honest answers.
"We insist that these concerns be removed. Should this issue be closed, Iran will maintain every right to develop peaceful nuclear programs," Ivanov said.
Western accusations have flown, blaming Iran for using civilian nuclear programs as a cover for developing nuclear weaponry which Tehran has met with claims that it is enriching uranium as a peaceful, alternative energy source.
China Backs Iran Against The Great Satan
Combine China's recent Iranian energy mega-deal with Vladimir Putin's new strategic
coalition, which includes nuclear-capable Brazil, and it rapidly becomes clear that
New York's "Fortress Americas" fallback initiative is already dead in the water
On 10 November 2004, the India Daily reported that, "Russian President Putin is taking a lead role in the most powerful coalition of regional and superpowers in the world. The coalition consists of India, China, Russia and Brazil. This will challenge the superpower supremacy of America." … "He [Putin] wants to establish a long-term Russian footprint in Latin America in order to expand Moscow's geopolitical influence in the region. Brazil is very open to the coalition concept where these large countries support each other in term of trade, economics, international politics and defense."
Just this single strategic move means that the new coalition embraces just over three quarters of the world's total population, eighty percent of its natural resources, and a majority of technical and scientific experts. Nor does it end there, because the coalition automatically includes the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which is presently comprised of China, Russia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Dangerously for America, the coalition will soon have another important member, Iran.

"In a speech he gave to assembled Republicans in Irvine, California. As the story goes, Bush explained, in unusually stark terms, how his belief in God influences his foreign policy. "I base a lot of my foreign policy decisions on some things that I think are true," he said. "One, I believe there's an Almighty. And, secondly, I believe one of the great gifts of the Almighty is the desire in everybody's soul, regardless of what you look like or where you live, to be free."
He went onto say: "I believe liberty is universal. I believe people want to be free. And I know that democracies do not war with each other."

Here's an interesting Blog about Technology and our future.

I was watching a show on Discovery channel, a while back. Maybe about 6 months ago. about alternative fuel sources. It was fascinating. There is a car in Europe that is within 3-5 years from production, that runs on air. Compressed Air.. 0-60 in 7 or 8 seconds, top speed of 95 mph I think they said. But here's the kicker, it recharges itself while you drive.. You NEVER have to refuel. They even said it would retail for about $15,000.00. Another, was talking about the prohibitive cost of hydrogen. The are working on a process (very successfully) that uses chemical reactions in your tank to produce hydrogen. You combine aluminum and another chemical that fills your tank. They were also talking about something else, I kinda missed that part, about a car that gets 5000 mpg.
Anyway, I have a point about Bu$h that most people miss. He's out talking about alternative energy and our "addiction" to oil. But the funds for any program are never there. He was embarrassed, last year, when he went to Denver, a big photo op about AES. He started saying how great of a job they were doing, and someone pointed out to him, that he had just slashed their budget by millions the week before. Surprise, "really, I'll have to look into that." Any way, my point, he is an oil man at heart. He acts like a Texan, so everybody thinks he's a cowboy. He probably has a job lined up for when (if) he leaves office.
"He went onto say: "I believe liberty is universal. I believe people want to be free. And I know that democracies do not war with each other." What does that make America. He's taking away OUR freedom.
Most of that money will flow to corn growers. Based on loan-deficiency rates that have recently topped 50 cents a bushel, the government probably will pay corn farmers about $4.5 billion this year in that subsidy category alone, said Bob Young, the chief economist for the American Farm Bureau Federation.
For critics of the American subsidy system, the record corn production highlights the tenuous assumptions underlying the program. Farmers are encouraged to produce as much as they can with the idea that greater exports will soak up the excess production. More recently, there are high hopes for using corn to produce ethanol for gasoline, but the infrastructure to produce large amounts of ethanol will take time.

Wood waste or garbage can be burned to produce steam for making electricity, or to provide heat to industries and homes.
Burning biomass is not the only way to release its energy. Biomass can be converted to other usable forms of energy like methane gas or transportation fuels like ethanol and biodiesel. Methane gas is the main ingredient of natural gas. Smelly stuff, like rotting garbage, and agricultural and human waste, release methane gas - also called "landfill gas" or "biogas." Crops like corn and sugar cane can be fermented to produce the transportation fuel, ethanol. Biodiesel, another transportation fuel, can be produced from left-over food products like vegetable oils and animal fats.
Biomass fuels provide about 3 percent of the energy used in the United States. People in the USA are trying to develop ways to burn more biomass and less fossil fuels. Using biomass for energy can cut back on waste and support agricultural products grown in the United States. Biomass fuels also have a number of environmental benefits.

The problem with corn and subsidies, is most of the family farmers were driven out of business a long time ago, and the only ones left are the multi national agri-businesses. Were trading subsidies to one fat cat, from another.
I think the true AES is hemp. I once read it takes 10 acres of trees to produce the same amount of paper as 1 acre of hemp. Imagine the possibilities.
