I am the mother of 3 children and I like to talk about them a lot Today I will talk about my son Andre'. He is my oldest. Like any other child he had his up and downs at school. His attention was very bad he couldn't concentrate on one subject. He did a lot of daydreaming. He was okay in elementary but when he went to High School oh my gosh we went through it. His difficulty really started in Middle School aka Junior High. His grades dropped I asked the teachers for I really didn"t great response from them. What they didn't was skip him to 9th grade when he was 16. He really didn't learn anything. He went to High School at 16 had hard concentrating so I took him out of High School and sent him to Pittsburgh so he could to Job Corp. That didn't work either that lasted 4 months. So he went back to the same High School until he was 18. He called me up one day he can't this school it isn't helping him learn at all he was very upset. He wanted to drop out but I told him no we will find a way for him to stay in school. I called my Pastor and he got my son into OIC and my son stayed for a year and a half. Well Andre' had hard time studying there also. He stopped gonig there and got the books for the GED course. He passed everything except the math. My son was getting frustrated (he missed it one point). Mine he didn't give up he was determined to get his diploma. He was 26 years old and finally he found a school that was for him. He could work and go to school at the same time. (Andre' has always worked since he was 13). This program gave him 108 assignments and he studied at his own pace. It took two and half years to finish this program and guess what everyone I am the proud mother of a High School graduate son. I am so proud he worked so hard it might have taken along time but he stuck with it and did it. God may not come when we want him to but he always comes on time I believe that with all my heart. It might be the right time for us at that time but we just have to be patient. He got frustrated but he went through with it. I really don't think he was a high school drop out because he tried very hard to get his diploma. We both found out that we ADD something that I knew nothing about when he was growing up. That is my story about my oldest tomorrow I right about my middle child. Andre' graduated from the Adult Diploma Program on June 6, 2007.

My husband must have had it too, he really didn't read well until he went back to reading classes in his forties. Now he reads better.
It is a great accomplishment that Andre continued in spite of the hard time he surely had. I know you are proud of him and I am, too.
