For people of the Indo Pak subcontinent August is a special month.
Freedom attained , a land allocated, problems inherited yet hundreds preferred to die, hundreds were killed in sheer desperation.The fear of loss displacement separation was collosal.
Refuge taken without proper shelters, but a deep sense of belonging prevailed.
A great divide had taken place.
What a time it must have been, for those who witnessed this great happening,experienced the struggle,shared the tragedies and felt the hunger the humidity and the momentous happiness.
Stories of fights, stories of looting and stories of daring escapes were numerous and related for days and months.
Freedom has a cost and after so many years ....still paying.
