This thread should give First Chapters people an unofficial common area to put brief (hopefully no more than a paragraph or two) descriptions of their entries, along with a link to the entry. Think in terms of what a reader would learn from the back cover of the book.
Hopefully we can centralize summaries in one spot so that readers can find them more easily and skim through them. Just put your summary in a comment to this thread, and be sure to include a link to your article.

Maralee Decatur comes from a long line of Wolf Hunters. On the night of the full moon, she stalks man-eating, immortal Wolves with a sword made of solid silver - their only weakness. One full-moon night, Maralee encounters Nash, a man with a strange compassion for the enormous beasts. He prevents her from killing them, even seems to mourn the death of the single monster she killed that night. She doesn't understand how anyone could show kindness towards a Wolf, her entire family was murdered by a pack of them when she was a child, but she can't help but be attracted to sexy, compassionate Nash and his dangerous, dominating streak.
Nash is a Wolf Guardian. The only of his kind--a race of shape-shifting wolves--who is not affected by the curse placed upon them 500 years ago. Normally, a peaceful, forest-dwelling people, the full moon causes them to go mad and hunt humans in their Wolf form. As a Guardian, Nash can placate his people and prevent them from attacking humans, but then the haughty Wolf Huntress shows up in his territory and slays his brother right before his eyes. He should hate her, but he doesn't. He failed to protect his brother. He doesn't blame her. He actually thinks she might be able to help his people break their curse, and so he invites her to stay among the Wolves (in their human form).
Their attraction is instantaneous, their love deep, until Maralee finds her lover is a Wolf. She must come to terms with her feelings of animosity towards Wolves and learn to accept the man she loves for what he is. Together they can break the curse on Nash's people, if the bigotry of his people and hers doesn't drive them apart.

A VIEW FROM SABA
*******************************************************
In Regency England, young Lady Katherine Havisham and her brother Nicholas have been brought up by their absentminded but loving father on an idyllic country estate in Devon. He has given them an excellent education, a sound understanding of the world around them and a good moral sense of right and wrong. Only one thing is missing.
Without a woman's guiding hand, Katherine has grown up learning nothing at all that will help her capture a husband on the marriage mart. She can hunt and fish, cipher and figure, and run the earl's estate as well as any man, but she knows nothing of the womanly wiles, her embroidery is abominable, and she is forever falling into a pond or challenging some poor young man to a race in her new curricle. Her frustrated brother is terrified that her reputation will relegate her to a life without love. And although Katherine insists that the womanly pursuits are simply frivolous, as, perhaps, is marriage, she has begun to worry that her brother's chances of finding a bride might be seriously affected by her own reputation.
But this distressing situation soon proves to be a minor consideration when more pressing crises come to light. Napoleon has escaped from Elba, and Katherine and Nicholas' dearest childhood friend Charles, Lord Fenchmore, has been fighting the French under Wellington. Now Charles has mysteriously returned to Devon, reticent and weary, while Lord Havisham is suddenly called to London indefinitely with no explanation as to why.
Meanwhile, unexpected visitors begin to arrive in Devon, complicating matters of both love and loyalty, courting and country. As if there isn't already enough complication! Perhaps what they all truly need is...

Here's the summary from my query letter... thanks for reading!!

She needs more than her waitressing job to support her younger sister. When Morgan hears that the CEO of CompuCorp needs a new personal assistant, she decides she wants more than just a job. She wants the richest bachelor in America. Big break, here she comes.
Super geek, super hacker Zachary Champion loves working in The Cave, the guys-only basement that houses CompuCorp's Network Security team. In fact, he's agreed to bring a date to his father's important fundraising gala in two weeks.
When Morgan and Zach run into each other, they strike a deal – Zach's computer skills for her dating expertise. Morgan gives Zach a makeover and likes the confident, intelligent – and hot – guy she finds underneath. Winning his approval becomes more important than the job. She'll have to face her biggest fear, that maybe there's nothing more to her than a pretty face. Zach is wary of letting Morgan use him like he's been used before. Bear Country isn't exactly a place anyone would go to look for love. It's a savage place, a place of danger and mystery. It's a place where outlaws roam among giant ice age predators, and even the most innocent-looking creature can be deadly.
Sharon Mack doesn't go to Bear Country looking for love. She goes there to rescue her kidnapped seven-year-old daughter from Sister West's 'Church of the Second Chance'.
In Bear Country, nothing is exactly what it seems, and nobody is exactly who they appear to be. Sharon and her daughter are caught up in a high stakes game where the players are cloaked in 'lies within lies'. Can Sharon rescue her daughter from the middle of that game? Will she find love in this unlikely place?
You can read the first chapter of Bear Country by clicking here.
Remember, only a rating of ten helps Bear Country get to the second round, though helpful comments are always welcome too.

Appropriately nicknamed the March Tornado, Lady Angelica Evelyne March fearlessly whips and whirls through life with all the spirited energy of her usually destructive namesake.
Nathan has his own nickname, Dragon, and it fits him as perfectly as the unusual tattoos on his ankles. Bastard-born and living life on the edge as a privateer who carries a letter of marque from mad King George himself, he has a total disdain for land, society in general, and specifically, its insipid women.
He fights his own demons, but despite the internal battles raging like wildfire in his gut, Nathan isn't strong enough to resist the magnetic pull of the beautiful woman with the face of an angel, the calculating nerve of a general, and the glorious laugh of ten people.
From the London docks to a tropical pirate-infested cove, Evelyne and Nathan spar and love and dream and fight, learning of themselves and each other. His "little general" teaches him the value of trust and forgiveness and that his worth far exceeds his legendary Dragon persona. The first in a four novel series that centers around the members of the world-renowned rock band, Molly's Tears, Of the Ashes focuses on Micah Mitchell, the lead singer and guitarist, and Sandra Martin, the woman who reluctantly stumbles into a relationship with him (Sandra appears in Chapter 2).
Micah is a hot-headed, brash, and sensitive young man who defines himself and his life by his music, his career, and his band mates, who he considers his family. When an accident forces him to make the drastic decision to quit his band, he suddenly finds himself severed from the world he knew and tossed into a sea of anger and uncertainty. Seeking to add stability back into his life, he decides to focus his attention on decorating his new home, hiring the beautiful, and somewhat skittish, Sandra in the process.
Recently fired from her position at an upscale Los Angeles design firm, Sandra finds herself unable to say no to his job offer. She quickly learns, though, that what she can offer him is far greater than color schemes and furniture layouts. With the help of his friends, she is able to guide him to reinvent the way he sees himself and, ultimately, find acceptance in his loss.
But when he wants to include her in his new life, will her own fears and secrets prevent her from finding happiness with him?
Brimming with characters that are equally as fallible as they are heroic, Of the Ashes is a novel that takes Sandra and Micah from Los Angeles to Florida, through heartache and wisdom, and into a celebration of friendship and family.

This is a paranormal romance between a proper Victorian Duke and a somewhat proper woman of the 21st century with some interesting ancestry that she wasn't aware of.
A young woman uses a one hundred point scale to help her find the ideal man—His Hotness. But scales have been known to lie. And so have men.
Jade Bartholomew spent the past ten years perfecting her His Hotness scale. At sixteen, her dream guy only needed good looks; but at twenty-six, Jade's values have broadened and matured. Although mind-blowing sex rates high on her list, her number one priority now in a relationship is honesty.
Kai Malone lives the American dream. Coming from a middle-class upbringing, he has reached the pinnacle of success as the CEO of a software company worth millions. But success has a downside. How can a young, business mogul know for certain when a woman is interested in him and not his money? According to Kai's best friend, there's only one way to be sure. He convinces Kai that, in this situation, lying is the best policy.
Jade and Kai meet when she shanks a golf ball into his testicles. Not the ideal way to start a relationship—but no one ever said attaining the title His Hotness would be easy.

I would love to share with you my entry, Grasping For The Wind. I chose this titile because in the book Ecclesiastes, Solomon writes:
Whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure, for my heart rejoiced in all my labor; and this was my reward from all my labor. Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done and on the labor in which I had toiled; and indeed all was vanity and grasping for the wind. There was no profit under the sun. -Ecclesiastes 2:10-11
Solomon's struggles remind me of my character's struggles in "Grasping For The Wind". The main character in my story, Mitch, seeks answers to his questions, tries to resist the pull of temptation, and fights for what he believes in. However, first he must learn how to live with the consequences of his actions.
Is he fighting for love, or is he grasping for the wind?
Please read my entry and let me know what you think.

"Me, Myself and Murphy's Law"
Life is like a comic book. "POW". It hits you right in the face.
For Krissy, life isn't LIKE a comic - it IS one. Working in the male dominated field of comics isn't what's difficult for her. Being harrassed - easy. Keeping eccentric artists in line - piece of cake. Have a life without privacy, people constantly telling you what to do and know exactly what you're thinking - doable. Commitment - best not to mention the word. Dealing with her emotions.....what do you consider DEALING with?
No having many girlfriends has made it easy for her to shut out sentiment, appearing cynical and sarcastic, but deep down, she's a romantic. Unfortunetly, she doesn't know it, and she's even more clueless as who may be her perfect match. Her on again off again boyfriend Ryan, her boyfriend Brandon, the bosses unknown nephew, an over the top comic artist whose a client, one of her coworkers?
Can Krissy learn to let out her emotions, overcome her 'ignore it and it will go away' attitude and see what's in front of her? Can she find love? Happiness? Can she let herself experience something she's afraid of? Well, she CAN, but will she let it happen?
Follow Krissy through an average adventure of life, with a not so average group of friends and boyfriends, into a world some consider only to be make believe.

From the fragmented documents, they slowly piece together the love story of Frank Layton, an American volunteer RAF fighter pilot, and Rose Hill, a British army nurse, that blossomed during the fateful summer of 1940. I agree--a wonderful idea. I've been encouraged to market my chapter, A Touch of Ice, and this seems to be an excellent opportunity so I'm including a blurb. Thanks Dale for providing this forum.
A Touch of Ice is set in the Triangle area of North Carolina and features Personal Coach, Esmerelda Gray. She was born with a touch of the paranormal in her fingertips that enables her to catch glimpses of where people have been or what they've done.
This coupled with an insatiable curiosity get El into trouble when she touches the incredibly cute guy standing in line next to her at the grocery store and discovers a dead body in his recent past. Determined not to let a potential killer escape, El finds herself caught in a delightful web of intrigue as her unruly curiosity leads her in a search for the killer, and more important the reason behind the murder.
I welcome you to stop by, read, and vote. I hope the chapter brings a smile to your day.
