What did you name your kids and why?

My daughter Stephany Marie was named after my dad and my mom! She was due the week before my dad, Steven, turned 50! As a kid, his older sister used to call him Stephany - thus her first name! And her middle name is my mom's middle name!

Our son Chandler Joseph, Chandler is just a name we liked and Joseph is his dad's middle name!

Unfortunately, we named our son a Junior (don't want to give his name). I think it was because his father had a big ego (we have been long divorced).

darlene- lol! that is why i told my husband that there will be no juniors for us!

susan- that is a very unique name

bridget- i like all of the family connections!

Sarah -- my husband loved that name and he gradually sold me on it. Now I'm really glad he did!

Parker Garnet (We just liked Parker and Garnet is his Grandpa)
Powell Aaron (We liked the name Powell and Aaron was my Grandpa)
Palmer Craig (We like the name Palmer and Craig is his Grandpa's last name)
Tyler Joseph (My DH's best friend is named TJ and my brother's middle name is Joseph)
Cody Allen (Powell chose the name Cody and Allen is my husband's and his father's middle name)
Luke Ryan (Luke because my husband wanted to say "Luke, I am your father"
- I am not kidding! Ryan is my hubby's 1st name)

My oldest son, Troy (Paternal grandfather), Richard (maternal grandfather).

I was expecting a girl so gave no consideration to a male name when my second son came along, so he got saddled with Russell Edward Rudell, III. When he was younger he changed his name several times . . . for a while he went by Juan and then there was Shane for a while.
I wanted my d aughter's initials to be the same as my father's JRS, I also wanted to name her after my sister, but every Janice I know talks A LOT. My sister is a plant lady, her life revolves around plants; I love the flower Jasmine, so my daughter's named Jasmine Rachel Squire' JRS for my father and Jasmine (flower) for my sister.

My son Nicholas William (we liked the nickname Nick and William after his dad) and our daughter Stephanie Kaye (we liked the name Stephanie and we needed a short middle name and went through the alphabet and liked the sound of K! I put an e on the end of it!

all the other names are just because we like them.

My only child's first name is Noah and his second name is Hendon. Hendon was a family middle name on his father's side. My ex-husband wanted to name the child something unique, and Noah was the best of the bunch. I like it. It is short, dignified, and easy to spell. He has always liked it too because noone else in school ever had that name. It is more common now, but was not common in the U.S. in 1973 when he was born.

My niece sent me an email with possible names and their meanings....Caitlin meant "pure" and I liked it alot better than the other names she had listed. I always liked the name Marie Antoinette and my hubby's sister's name is Marie. Caitlin Marie sounded nice :) She would have been William Hawkes if she were a boy....William was My hubby's father's name and Hawkes is an old family name on my father's side. William Hawkes Hulett just flowed :)

My mother helped name my oldest daughter after the star in Days of our Lives~ Jennifer Rose.

My son is Timothy James. I just always loved the name Timothy and James is after his father.

Megan Elyse - because I wanted a name that would be "convertible" if she happened to become a tom-boy (we have shortened it to 'Meg' around the house). My sister and I both came up with Elyse separately and figured it was meant for her. And I spelled it differently ... just to be different.
John Michael Austin - John was my husband's paternal grandfather's name. Michael was his best friend's name. Austin was the name I wanted to be his first name and you see where that landed. He would up with 2 middle names because my husband has 2 middle names and I wanted to continue the tradition.

We named our daughter Haley Adriana, because (1) we had never known anyone named Haley (now we hear parents calling for 'Haley' in stores all the time and see pictures in newspapers of girls named Haley/Hayley/Hailey/etc), (2) we really liked the name, and (3) my husband (who is a school teacher wanted a name that other kids couldn't make anything obnoxious out of).

We named our son Parker Aiden because again we really liked the name and couldn't think of anything other kids could make out of it to mock or make fun (later, when my son was a couple months old, he was sort of chubby, and my husband realized that if he remained chubby forever, then the other kids could call him Porker!!) I thought of the name Parker while standing in the checkout line at Bi-Lo and I glanced at a magazine (US Weekly or something like that) and saw a blurb about Sarah Jessica Parker and suddenly thought "Hmmm, 'Parker' would be a good name............" The Aiden came from the movie 'The Ring'.

We arm wrestled. Ultimately since we had fraternal twins I named our son after Julius Caesar and my wife came up with Raquel -- because she thinks it's pretty.

My oldest is a junior...Matthew Randolph. He would have been Katelynn Rose if he had been a girl.

My youngest is...Conner Russell. Conner is my maiden name and Russell was my grandpa's middle name. He would have been Madalynn Rose if he had been a girl.

My son was born in a bicentennial year and I wanted something old fashioned. My favorite male name was my brother-in-laws, so I knew he'd want to use it someday. The names of my grandparents and uncles were awful, so I picked Adam. Although our last name was short, we always had to spell it so it was important it be something easy to spell. He must like his name, because when he leaves a message on my phone, he still says Adam Jeremy Solis.
When my daughter was born, the same things applied. I was careful to make sure the initials weren't bad, too. I figured Amy had been done and Elizabeth was my favorite girls name. She complains that every Amy has Elizabeth as a middle name, but any time we tried to give her a nickname, she refused.
Then when I got my divorce I changed my own first name to Elizabeth.
