China lashed out Wednesday at the U.S. by claiming its soybean exports contained pesticides, poisonous weeds and dirt. "Numerous quality problems" have been found with American soybeans, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a notice posted Wednesday.
"We've already made exchanges with the United States, demanded an investigation into the cause, and asked that effective measures be taken to improve the situation to avoid similar incidents from happening again," the Chinese watchdog agency said.
One batch of beans in February was found to contain red beans and pesticides that constituted a "great potential hazard to the food safety of Chinese consumers."

I will never forgive them for poisoning our pets.
I thought it was funny since they're SO obviously trying to say "You TOO!"
(Yeah right)

Bestros Chicken Jerky StripsThe Associated Press is reporting that tests of two Chinese brands of dog food treats sold at Wal-Mart stores found traces of melamine.
Wal-Mart pulled two China-made dog treats from their shelves: Chicken Jerky Strips from Import-Pingyang Pet Product Co. and Chicken Jerky from Bestros Trading on July 26 due to customer's complaints about pets becoming ill from eating the treats.
Wal-Mart spokeswoman Deisha Galberth said 17 sets of tests done on the products found melamine.
"There were very small amounts of melamine found," Galberth said. "The amounts were so small the laboratory recommended more testing."
Galberth added that she couldn't say at this point if the amount of melamine found would be enough to sicken or kill a pet that ate the tainted products.
She further added that Wal-Mart would expand its testing of the chicken jerky strips to see if tests find melamine in the product.
As of now, no formal recall has been issued.

A statement Tuesday by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said customers should be especially wary of jerky from Shanghai Bestro Trading with the UPC number 0087784900006 and item number 839751. Customers who have bought the products are urged to return it to the store for a full refund.
As of today, the FDA has not listed the products on their recall website. In 2005, the FDA put an import alert on some of the pet food products from Pingyang Pet Product Co. because of salmonella contamination.
Galberth said she did not know about Pingyang Pet Product Co. being on FDA's import alert list previously. She said they are working with the FDA and manufacturers.
"Generally, we won't do a pull-and-hold unless most stores are impacted," she said. "There's a high likelihood many of our stores would have been impacted by this one."

I mean we are talking about people who on top of the toys and dog food put anti-freexe in the toothpaste.
remember the water softening product for laundry. Ancient Chinese secret. Who know Antifreeze was that ancient chinese secret for pearly whites.
They are trowing a tantrum like a little kid - they got caught and now they wanna blame the other guy!
Wah! such babies....
We (Americans) are culpable in this. We are obsessed with cheap goods, not realizing the price of a product does not nearly reflect the cost - we're far too willing for someone else to pay the cost, whether that be someone else's pets or kids, or exploited workers/environments in China.

Excerpt from the article:
A global hunt started by Johnson & Johnson has tracked to China some counterfeit versions of the test strips used by 10 million Americans to measure their blood sugar levels.
Potentially dangerous copies of the OneTouch Test Strip sold by the company's LifeScan unit surfaced in American and Canadian pharmacies last year, according to federal court documents unsealed in June. J.& J., one of the world's largest makers of consumer health products, learned of the bogus test strips from patients' complaints in September.
ok, let me see if I can make this code work for a link. Otherwise it goes off the page:

I've been asking myself "WHY" we are trading with China, knowing how they operate. I'd hate to see China get P.O'd with the USA enough to wage a type of chemical warfare with us. They'd be very successful under the current conditions we are facing now. It would be so easy for them to kill off Americans through trade!
Exerpt from article, People's Daily
A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation told reporters: "Permanent normal trade relations between China and the United States will bring huge benefits to both sides and is in the interests of the peoples of both nations."
"This clears a long-standing obstacle to the improvement of relations between China and the United States."
I had my doubts then.. and I still do! We have always known that anything made in China was mostly garbage, poorly made under horrible conditions for slave workers.
Hope I got this right.
Our pet Rosie, a 3 year old Chihuahua was poisoned from Chinese made Bestro's Jerky Chicken Strips #77849 00006 1 We have this contaminated bag. We have three Chihuahuas and one of them died one month ago. She started with vomiting and dehydration (she was drinking lots of water) and then we were told she may either have an obstruction or have been poisioned. Since our dogs are inside dogs and we are with them at all times outside we thought it was an obstruction. Finally the doctor at Elwood Animal Clinic in Glendora, California said he was almost positive it was some kind of poisoning. They were going to scope her but before that could happen she died July 21, at VCA in Fountain Valley, California.
We gave our dogs Waggin train and Bestro's Jerky Chicken Strips. Our Sweet Rosie (our chihuahua that passed) loved them and and she would eat all the treats we put down for the other dogs too. Up until today we never had any idea what happened but now with Wal Mart pulling this quietly from their shelves. (I brought my treats at Wal Mart, Glendora, California) I truly believe that is why she died. Rosie wants all dog owners to be aware of this and a Total Recall of this chinese junk pet treats so other puppies don't slowly suffer is she did. How many other puppies must die before a total recall is called? We are totally heartbroken and will never forget Our Sweet Gypsy Rose! Since Wal Mart had this problem before, why didn't they pull all that Chinese junk off the first time? Our Rosie will still be alive! Is Wal Mart concerned about people and their Pets or Money? You figured it out.
