Sorry Mr Bill, I don't do video. However, I feel your frustration as the entire Southern border of Georgia was aflame with wildfires earlier this summer. The smoke was so intense that several mornings when the winds were favorable, our entire neighborhood was smoke-filled. And I am located about 250 miles away from where the fires were burning.

I followed along with you throughout the "ordeal"... Most of us who lived up here in the Great Northwest for quite a while know how devastating a large fire can be... I sympathize completely! There are at least a couple of different schools of thought about how the problem of fire suppression in wilderness areas should be handled -- not the least of which advocates intentional burning of the brushy understory on a regular basis to ward off larger fires down the line... It's a difficult thing especially with the population moving more and more into formerly "peopleless" places... I suppose it all goes back to population control, doesn't it?

They do controlled burns here too Jean. The fire on our state line was caused by lightning and then compunded because of lack of rain and high wind.

Marianne R., you must be pretty near to us....when the fire jumped over into Florida we were evacuated....Tahoe was in flames just as ours was dying down

Fire is so powerful. My nieghbors house caught onfire when I was 16. I stayed up watching it burn to the ground. It was mesmorizing.

I don't always get the videos on my computer for some reason, but I know about this fire, and the others up and down highway 395 this summer. I saw the results as I drove up to Mammoth recently. And the smoke from the Zaca fire in Santa Barbara area followed us up to Lee Vining depending on which way the wind was blowing.
If I remember right, when I was watching the news at the rental condo after a day of adventuring, there was a fire in Truckee. I never heard any more about it. I'm assuming it was contained?

Not sure about a fire in Truckee, but there was one just south of Tahoe City. Burned a dozen homes and 20 or so acres. They jumped on it really quick before it could get way out of control.
