Teacher vs Student
There was an argument one day in class between the teacher and her student Veronica.
Veronica said that whales can swallow humans.
The teacher said they couldn't.
The teacher explained that even though whales are humongous creatures, there throat is very small.
Veronica said "What about Jonah? From the bible, you know? He was swallowed!"
Once again the teacher said annoyed, "It's physically impossible!"
So Veronica replied "Then when I go to heaven I'm gonna ask Jonah himself!"
So the teacher asks, "What if he goes to hell?"
So Veronica answers, "You ask him

There is one recorded situation in the whaling days of a man swallowed by a sperm whale. They had harpooned the whale and it attacked their longboat, the man fell overboard and was swallowed. The crew immediately killed the whale and cutting into it found the man still alive. He was bleached from gastric juices and never right in the head again (probably lack of oxygen caused brain damage.)
If any part of the Jonah story is true, it may be that a dolphin kept him afloat and pushed him to shore - they have been known to do that.
