I was working diligently away on my computer when I noticed the UPS man outside and had left me a package. The package I was not expecting for another day at least. Omaha Steaks had sent me my package and it has arrived. I ordered 6 Boneless Pork Chops that are 6 Oz each.
My Gift certificate was for $25 which I had earned at MyPoints. I really like mypoints, but because I do not do any of the actual cash offers, I do not earn a lot of points that quickly. I only do the click the email for 5 points at a time. I just make sure to try and do them every day.
I was actually not happy when I did get the certificate and learned that the certificate had to be redeemed at a certain site (www.osincentives.com/redeem). I could not go to the Omaha Steak site themselves and just redeem the certificate and get anything I wanted. Although I did have a good selection of things, I opted for 6 porkchops which I had to add another $15.70 to the $25.00 gift certifiate for a total of $40.00 for a whole 6 porkchops. Steaks were much more expensive.
If you have thought about getting the Omaha Steak gift certificate from MyPoints, unless you are getting one that is worth $100, it is really not worth cashing in for a $25 one. I even got a nice little book that is titled Great Gathering Guide & Cookbook.
I do so far like how fast the pork chops came and I did not have any service problems, but to pay $40.00 for Pork Chops is more than I would pay to take my family out to eat for dinner.
Oh and as a reminder.. Do not pick up bags of dry ice. It tends to freeze your fingertips as fast as a hot pan would burn them.
Here i have compared the size of the porkchop to a regular sized deck of cards.
Here is the side view of the pork chop compared to a deck of cards.

This is my first photo essay.. I hope you liked it.. and I just also wanted to heed warning to others that although the company may be reputable, they charge more than an arm and a leg for their products...

I can't wait for the update after dinner!!
Definately seems extreme to me, it figures out to $17.77 per pound! YIKES!!
I hope so too Joanne... I guess unless I can cash out for the $100 it really is not worth it for me to get this costly of a food.
Thanks for the info about Omaha Steaks, I'm not sure I would use them, but knowing now that you are limited on what you can select, etc is really good to know.

I have to agree. they are very tasty.. and one apiece is enough, but that is just way too expensive.
Did you do the ordering through mypoints to earn more points on the purchase?
I do Mypoints, but haven't had a cash out yet. Like you, I only earn based on the 5 point clicks in the emails. Once some of the points approve through (based on a few survey's, I'm guessing), I have enough for some of the $25 gift cards.
I'm thinking I'll go with Old Navy, as it's one of the cheaper $25 cards (3,250 pts, as opposed to Wal-Mart, which costs 3,750 pts), and we can use it for christmas shopping this year. :)

I have had the same quality buying from wholesale suppliers right here in my home town.
