As you may know, I adopted a little girl who was a mess, literally. She came with more baggage but the type of baggage that had no clothes only problems. She still has a few issues but is a loving beautiful young lady. I am so proud of her. She shines and smiles wherever she is and the love is mutual. Here's the kicker: She's almost always in trouble. August 22 is her 13th birthday. She's grounded. I told her we might as well ground her for her 14the birthday and save the trouble of waiting. She smiles and hugs me. She knows I'm not mad at her. I give her small punishments to fit her large crimes. But I'm never angry at her. She has problems with obedience. I can tell her not to do something and she'll do it as I'm telling her. She leaves me no choice but to discipline her. I have raised her since she was four and never once did I spank her. She had enough violence in her little life. She's my buddy, but she's my baby, too. Loving discipline goes hand in hand with growth. I'm strict with her because I have to be. But before you feel too sorry for her, she gets to pick the restaurant we will go to in order to celebrate her first day as a teenager. Then, we go to buy her new bike. She will have a surprise party on Saturday. I'll find a way not to ground her Saturday, but it will be difficult. She is a thing a minute. She believes that she was dropped off at the wrong house, and that she was always meant to be with me. I think she's right. She's still grounded. PS What she did this time was even though she's not to get on the phone, she snuck it out of the house. Why is she not to be on the phone, you ask? I found her out in our back at 1:30 am talking to a boy. That's just one of her phone incidents. The phone to her is like chocolate to me. |

to know that they are loved.
She's 13 - she'll get the hang of it soon.
I like birthday cake - it's always my favorite (flavor doesn't mater either - if it's birthday cake it's my favorite!)
Good luck...
:-)
My daughters are 6 & 5 right now and the younger one sounds like she could be related to your daughter! ;-P
When she tried to burn our house down she went and put on her winter jacket and boots and sat on the cough while the house was on fire waiting for them to come take her away.
If shes not already I would be sure to get her into some good therapy now. And you should go as well.
I wanted you to know I looked at your picture or read your article and left you with a 10!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Jerri~~~
Hang in there, batten down the hatches and you'll get through this. I got through two teenage stages and they are delightful young men, even though I have a few extra grey hairs...okay, okay, more than a few....
5 daughters, 3 ex-wives, now I'm in you life, and you have nothing to complain about. You haven't in a while, I'm just here to remind you how lucky you are to have me, and how much I love you.
LOVE
Your Fiance
Is it really wise of you to make #11 comments? I know where all of your ex-wives live, and atleast one of them is on my side!!!
Also, I have PICTURES you don't want me to post.....but I will!!!!!
Do you really want me to tell Gather all about those boxer shorts with the lip prints all over them? haha
