At college, in my boyfriend's room. His room-mate was watching the news on TV.
I remember being concerned because my step-mom (who I didn't even like) was in NYC by herself (my dad was in Russia, it took him an extra 3 days to get back).
At work...Sun Microsystems. Everyone started talking about it and they put the footage on on a big screen in the dining hall. Work pretty much stopped as everyone listened to the news.
i worked the night before until 4:30am. so when i got out of bed at noon, i didn't know what was going on. it took me a few minutes to figure it all out. even though it was all that was on television. i remember thinking why isn't my usual show on when i first turned on the television.
I was at work. When both my husband and I got home that day, we were so distracted by what had happened that we forgot all about our dinner plans for the night to celebrate our anniversary. Needless to say, with an anniversary like 9-11, we'll never forget it again.
I was getting ready for work, and had the news on. I watched the whole thing in the beginning, when the first plane hit. When I got to work, they had set up our break room with about ten tvs. It was a very tragic day.
I was at work at Staples. I was the Copy Center Lead at the time. My ex-fiance called and left a message for me and when I got the message, I ran to the Electronics sections and grabbed a display radio and put it up in the Copy Center. Everyone who came in got to keep up with the news as did the employees. We were all in shock! And close to tears!
Driving to work. Didn't even know it had happened, because I got tired of the commercials on the radio & had plugged in a cassette (old car - no CD at the time). When I walked in, I asked what was going on because everyone was weirded out. I heard about the first plane but didn't think anything of it other than it was a tragedy that an accident like that would occur. Just then we got word that the 2nd plane hit. Everything after that changed. Someone brought in a TV. We worked in a secure data facility, but they sent everyone home. I remember being stunned and dazed, watching hours of the coverage on CNN. My wife & I left the kids at school so that they would have a "normal" day. Turns out they were watching it on TV too.
I was in college at SUNY Plattsburgh, in NY. I was inbetween classes and arrived in my 2nd class of the day, which was a class about Media (television, radio, etc.) My teacher announced to the class the news and we were allowed to leave if we felt it necessary.
I was teaching my junior high class. The principal broke in on the intercom and told us all to turn on our televisions. We watched as the second plane hit and as people jumped out of windows. It was horrible, and the students I had were greatly affected. So was I, but I needed to give them assurances of their own safety. Needless to say, I didn't follow the lesson plans for the rest of the day. OR the next one, either. We were all in shock, just glued to the television for days after that. And my students had so many questions.

My fiance was flying and his plane was grounded in Chicago. Needless to say, I was a wreck thinking of Chicago as the next target.
