After walking into my apartment after my bikeride home today (8/21), I kicked on the radio and heard a story about an "American Idol Style" publishing event on a website. "Hmm, sounds a lot like gather's thing," I thought to myself. Then my ears perked up more when I heard "First Chapters". It was actually Gather they were talking about! How cool.
The article is in text form here.
They give a brief history of the event and talk with the winners, Terry Shaw and Geoffrey Edwards as well as Gather's own Tom Gerace. Some publishing folks also spoke briefly about how they expect this will change the way that unsolicited manuscripts are dealt with at more publishing companies. Borders also mentioned that they will be featuring the two winners in their stores.
A very positive story and some great exposure for Gather! Well done!

We were really excited that NPR chose to cover Terry and Geoffrey's success. We are excited, too, to have had a great author response for our first genre-specific First Chapters contest (http://romancenovel.gather.com/) and look forward to helping other aspiring authors launch their careers here on Gather.
