Clinton says Surge working, but we should pull out of Iraq

If the surge is working/serving it's purpose why would she want to bring the troops home? I hate the way politicians work both sides of the issues.

How does she know it is working? Aren't we all waiting for the big September Report? There are a lot of issues to consider when saying that the surge is "working" and I think she is basing that statement on only one issue.

Watch out for that lady, everyone. She has some very interesting ideas about how to re-arrange the social structure of her New America, where the focus is on "the common good" (like getting rid of property ownership for greater production yield.) This innovation would not apply to the elites, of course.
She will say anything to get their "Clinton Dynasty" back in a seat of power.

The Yahoo article you cite is a very confusing article. Here is Hillary's quote: "It's working. We're just years too late in changing our tactics," she said. "We can't ever let that happen again. We can't be fighting the last war. We have to keep preparing to fight the new war.

I'm not a Hillary fan, but what question is Hillary answering when she says "It's working." This seems like a poorly written mish-mash of quotes and I don't know, frankly, what can be made of it.

Poorly written article as well as a misunderstood idea about Hillary's intentions. In the end, Shari is right. It will all be working by September. GWB told us so. It's not like he's ever been wrong before. Remember - Hillary isn't the commander-in-chief. She is a Senator from NY. She has little power when it comes to this war.

I personally believe that the surge is working, but in the end I would have to agree with Shani. Thats when we will really know what the surge has produced. But unless the report says that the Iraqi government and military can take care of the situation without the US, then we should not pull the troops out. Pulling the troops out before the job is done would be foolish, naive, and just plain stupid.

What job are they doing now Ty phoon, with all due respect to your opinion. Today Cnn reported that our top military advisors reported that the current government is non-functional. The suicide rate for our Military is up. The bombings keep happening, in Bagdad! The first place we called a "Victory". The cost is slowly predicting the fianancial picture for years to come, and she says it is "Working'? If the reporting was incorrect, and she commented before it was edited by her many staff, we must consider that, she did not clarify, I find it hard to believe she commented at this stage of the game without her staff researching some Facts. I do not much care for "on the fence" positions and I see a side of her that is "wishy washy" and she is ccoming off as being manipulated, I will wait and see. I think Hillary is just plain two faced. I have always said, she says, what she thinks the public wants to hear. Why, shouldnt she lie about issues> She had a good teacher, look who she is married to.....

Ellen, we are doing our part, which is killing insurgents and terrorists, and securing parts of the country so the Iraqi's can take over. I will admit that the conflict in Iraq is far from over, and probably wont be over for many more years. But we are doing our part. Its not our fault that the Iraqi's cant get their act together, and to be honest, we should not expect much from a government that is a little over a year old. But the surge is, for the most part, completing what it was supposed to do; kill the enemy, secure areas, and make offensives into areas where the enemy has strongholds, and let Iraqi forces take over.

Vickey, you are right. Hilary is two-faced. But no matter what you say about her, she is a good politician, and she knows her stuff. She also has a really good asset, Big Bill.

This is proving interesting. What she said didn't make sense, and yet she has a chorus of defenders of her illogic, on cable. It's getting harder for her to say her "general election" line, and her "primary election" line at the same time, even with her spin machine in high gear.

Hillary knows that we have a long term committment in Iraq, but can't admit that to the Dem primary crowds. She also wants to "get the hell out" of Iraq, but realizes that an "immediate" withdrawl is impossible, both politically and practically. She has to win the primaries first, so Republicans should be scouting for "sound bites" as we get closer to the actual primary elections, to use in the "general" election campaign.

Again, this is getting interesting.

Hillary is simply keeping all sides open and confused...the loons control the Dem primary process, to win she has to appeal to the 10-15% of the national electorate who think this was all a war based on lies or worse. To her credit she admits she voted for the war and for the longest as refused to apologise for that, to cover this "lack" she blasts the administration and information they provided.

She has to straddle the issue. A majority of Americans may be discouraged by the war but by no means a majority want a US defeat. It is a fine line she has to walk and so far it seems to be paying off.

That's the nuttiest damn thing I've heard yet.

So Hillary thinks we're kicking ass, but instead of completing the job we should just pack our bags and go home...........hmmmmmmm.
