Then of course when the infrastructure of the nation really begins to fall apart (as it is now doing) they can give no-bid contracts or cost-plus contracts to their cronies (like the Haliburton types) ... what it amounts to is the raping of America !!!
But as I see the people on Gather do their things, it is most likely typical of the mass of humanity. I ran across one fellow yesterday that claimed a new way to implement comments in mass to people, he claimed over 1100 friends on Gather and from what I could tell it seemed all about point whoring. I dropped him as a contact.
So many here deal in strictly triviality and receive one or two line comments in the hundreds while others that deal in the things that are extremely important to ALL of us get hardly any in comparison ... but thankfully those that we do get are in depth and extremely useful and rewarding for those that take the time and care to read and follow. I can only hope that many others are reading and getting something out of it even though they may not get involved with comments of their own.
Such is our world ... :-(
Political whoreing is not confined to Republicans as you well know. Ms Clinton fired a whole bunch of people just to give her friends jobs and SHE did not have that authority.
While I agree that it is imperative to stay abreast of the political climate, I believe there is also a need for amusement and diversion to bring down our blood pressures a notch or two and I'm glad that not EVERY article on Gather is serious, biting, incisive and politically-oriented...
You are right we should all get together and solve the REAL problems. The parties dont want us to do that though. They would rather distract us with false issues, while they rob us blind through their corruption. This is the exact reason the founders feared a party system so much
As a multi-faceted being, one hopes that one has more than just "one face" looking out upon the world -- lest we forsake love, family, friends, laughter, art and music altogether because of the level of "frivolity" inherent in each... Human beings must laugh as well as cry... This does not preclude us from being capable of serious thought and action when such situations arise as demand them...
As for the frivolous, that is usually the 'point whoring' I have noticed on Gather ... but I guess that some people get their relaxation 'that' way ... so be it.
