Cooking and baking can be a chore for some while it's almost relaxing for some. We all have those stories about boiling the pan dry or the first time we cooked for a date. Some of us go on to perfect our skills while some cook enough to keep themselves and their families alive.

Although i do have a pretty funny story about my swiss cheese memory! I was making sausage gravyand biscuits, and i had 2 ziploc bags of white powder in my cupboard. I didn't remember ever putting anything else in there so I grabbed a bag and made away. Well, the flour wouldn't brown right and then it wouldn't thicken, i was fit to be tied! I figured i had just screwed up somewhere and thickend it a bit with cornstarch and served it anyway!
My DH took an bite and started spittin & sputterin, i though it was a BIT dramatic, it couldn't possibly be THAT bad!
Until i realized the "flour" was actually powdered sugar!
Man was my face red!!
My best cooking isn't "cooking", actually, but "assembling". A sandwich.
Started at about 5 years old baking bread with grandma.

What is your tried and true, never fail meal to make? Never fail meal? Wow... I'm not even sure. I make a lot of meals. I think the easiest one that I've made that's never-fail, is this concoction in a skillet involving ramen noodles, frozen veggies, and hamburger meat. It's easy, and tastes sooo good! :)
After our three children grew up and left home in the 1980's my need for cooking diminished. It took a couple of years for me to learn to cook for two as I had never done it before. Talk about wasted food!
Now, we throw something on the grill or make a pot of something that last for 2-3 days - not much cooking goes on here. I'm a little rusty now.. :-)
About 2-3 times a year the kids demand some comfort food - namely Chicken Fried Steak, fresh mashed potatoes, PEAS, and cornbread or biscuits, and PIE. Thanksgiving, they cook but we HAVE to take the PIES! And, I still cook Christmas dinner for them all!
