A Day At Selby Gardens ~ Chapter Four ~ Cactus

     The next chapter in the Selby Gardens story is a visit to there cactus and succulent garden. Once again, they had it displayed beautifully!

     Upon entering the cactus and succulent garden I immediately noticed the beautiful rocks. Big, small, in between, and all beautiful!

     There were a variety of wonderful plants, some i'd never seen before and others that are more commonly seen.

This kangaroo paw was the first thing I noticed. The red blooms give it it's name.

I thought this was a neat looking plant. I took a picture of the sign as well, to remember the name...

This next picture is actually from a flowering tree. The blooms were so beautiful, I couldn't believe they came from the cactus/succulent family.

This sign goes with the flowering tree...

Hybrid desert willow!

They had some nice potted cactus/succulent displays too.

In this third picture, the plant is so big, you can hardly see the pot!

This is another flowering tree, with beautiful white blooms. Don't get too close though, the trunk of the tree and it's branches are covered in thorns!

Speaking of thorns, this could be used as a deadly weapon!

It was so full of thorns! From the top to the bottom, hundreds of them!

Then of course they had the more common aloe family...

And the more traditional cactus plants...

This one was blooming, one yellow bloom, and one orange!

 I think this was one of my favorite! It was perfectly round!

And this one was so tall and skinny, they looked sort of funny next to eachother! 

 Then of course there are the hanging, vine like  cactus,

 This one even had some little red blooms!

I think this is part of the Frangy Pangy family, no blooms on this one...

but I did get a picture of a bloom from another species of that family...

And last, but certainly not least, was my favorite of the cactus/succulent  family displayed at Selby Gardens...They had these for sale, a little pricey though!
