What a creepy movie.
My take on a synopsis. A boy was born with the ability to smell like no other person anywhere. He smells a particular woman and is mesmorized by her. He looses track of her and his hunt for her scent sends him on a murderous spree all through France. Just for your information, Dustin Hoffman is not a central character in this movie, and his role was short lived.
My movie buddy thinks this is the dumbest movie, and I might agree. It is an interesting concept, but did not hold my attention.

However, I had a very good idea of what would happen at the end (save for the thing that happened after what I surmised would happen! ;}
Predictable…pretty much, but i reiteratle...well filmed. Very Bruckheimeresque.
The lead character (Jean-Baptiste Grenouille played by Ben Whishaw) is one of the most unusual looking actors. He looks positively Cro-Magnon yet I found myself having pity on him and seeking out his positive attributes.
I like the movie but to tell you the truth…I rented it because I am a big fan of Alan Rickman.
Inclusive in the current popularity of the fantasy film genre, I find "Perfume: The story of a Murderer" ranks rather high in its originality and style.
