Even thought I'm a bit tired of BAM and pork fat rules, I still love Emeril's reicpes and him in small doses. I used to be addicted to his shows but rarely even watch anymore unless I hear one of his guests is someone I enjoy.
I do admire Emeril though and think he does good works. For instance he came thru during the disasterous hurricane that devestated New Orleans and took care of his restaurant employees when they were out of a job. He also established The Emeril Lagasse Foundation which is a non profit organization that helps mentor, inspire and enable young people especially those from a disadvantaged situition, to realize their full potential.
Emeril does seem to have a rapport with children and I love watching him cook with them. Some of my favorite shows are when he cooks with Elmo and his special to promote his There's a Chef in my World. The school lunch specials he has done in the past were also fun to watch.
I have quiet a few of his cookbooks - Every Day's a Party, Emeril's TV Diners, Prime Time Emeril, Emeril's Pot Luck, and my newest - There's a Chef in my World which is autographed. He has several more cookbooks out including - From Emeri's Kitchens, Emeri's New Orleans Cooking, Louisiana Real and Rustic, Emeri's Delmonico: A Restaurant with a Past, and Emeril's Creole Chirstmas Cookbook.
We love the fired turkey from Every Day's a Party and his BAM recipe is also in that one. Mr Lou's Key Lime Pie was a big hit here from Emeril's Pot Luck. I haven't cooked from Chef in my World yet but know this one is going to be a good one for recipes from around the world. I sure am enjoying reading it despite the fact it's a children's cookbook. He has two other childrens' cookbooks out - There's a Chef in my Soup and There's a Chef in my Family.
Have you noticed they've moved Emeril from his famous prime time 8 PM EST slot to an earlier 7 PM EST? Wonder if that means Emeirl is loosing his appeal? Maybe others are also tiring of BAM and pork fat rules.

I don't really watch him anymore as he gets on my nerves. Only when he has a guest on I want to see, or a recipe.
I haven't been to any of his restaurants. I've been to a Wolfgang Puck restaurant though and it was excellent.
I enjoy seeing him on other shows though - Good Morning America, Regis & Kelly, those kind. He looks like he has a lot of fun.
Risa I agree some of his books recipes do get rather detailed and not everyday cooking in my opinion. I ate a Wolfgang Puck meal on a plane once and it was delicious, especially the brownie for dessert. It was a bit pricy for what I got though. I took a pix in front of one of his restaurants in Hollywood but we didn't eat there. I wish we had.
Susan, I think you're right and alot of his show is more for entertainment (acting). He does seem like a good cook and a nice man. Thanks for your coments.
