Creative People, Creative Videos

I know there is some rumbling amongst the Gather-ers about the new video feature. Some don't like it, some are eager to see what it will become. Many hope that this won't turn into a You-tube wanna be, with thousands of Gigabytes of pure commercial crap playing 24/7.  I can definately see where that fear is coming from, but I think that we at Gather are better than that.

I don't have a fancy high-definition video camera, but every now and then I'll capture something fun on my digital still camera, or the camcorder. I think some of these are worth sharing with others.  I like looking at other people's photos - most of the groups I'm a member of are about photography, photo editing, or pet groups so I can see shots of other people's furry friends! Gather has thousands of photos, why not video too?

I have a very high opinion of the folks I've met on gather. I've seen a lot of talented writers, poets and photographers share their best work - I've also seen a lot of people connecting through more "conversational" type articles, communicating through comments. I'm confident that such a creative group of people can put together a wonderful mix of video projects that are just as much fun to look at as the photos and photo essays I enjoy so much.
