Duct Tape

It's pretty much universally known that duct tape can fix or make just about anything, so tell me...

 What kinds of crazy things have YOU used duct tape for???

 I have duct taped my children's diapers on before, when they went through the "take it off and spread poo all over my walls" stage.  Worked like a charm!  :D

When I was a kid, I had a party that turn into a Boys VS Girls war. The railing on my old bunk bed broke so my parents used it for that.

I heard on the news the other day a guy held up a store with his head wrapped in duct tape. They called him the "duct tape bandit".

It's used for everything in the moves.

I once duct taped the back of an actresses dress up in an emergency. Of course she had no intentions of turning around.

My Uncle called a car I once owned "a roll of duct tape on wheels". It helped mask the rust.

I have used it for a lot of things but I'm tired and nothing's coming to mind. Super glue is my next best friend, too! I once used nail glue to reassemble a broken ceramic teddy bear -- a co-worker broke our boss' sorority memento. The boss never did find out it was ever broken!

I have also used duct tape on my oldest son's diapers when he was little. Putting them on backwards didn't work. I duct taped my little brother to the wall once, he was about 7, I guess. He thought it was funny until I kicked the stool out from under him and left him there. My mom didn't think it was so funny either. I currently use it to keep wires from hanging out of my dashboard, and my high school prom date made a wallet out of it. I also have duct taped the window panel to the inside of my car door.

WTG Mary! I have used nail glue for various items, as well. It works wonders!

LOL Sharon, yeah, that doesn't sound like a good idea. :P

Ellynn, I've tried the backwards diaper thing, too. It worked for a very short time before that came off too. Duct tape was my only other option (that I could think of) and it's a whole lot better than cleaning poo paintings off the walls!

I used it today to tape a hose against a handrail. The hose was attached to a water pump in my pond and I was trying to aerate it a little more in the heat. After I left the office the hose fell on the ground and emptied most of the lower pond or about 1800 gallons. I got back just in time to save the fish and put them in the upper pond. I couldn't believe the duct tape didn't hold.

Funny you say that Ron, I honestly think that today's duct tape doesn't hold like the good ole' stuff...it seems like they're making it cheaper. Saves them money but I want it to work like it used to! I tried to patch a hole in my kids' pool with it and it didn't hold either... :(

Yes, if it's from the dollar store - forget it! Gotta get the authentic stuff!
I've used to to patch my grandkid's molded swimming pool... to patch a cracked plastic flower pot... to hold a skirt hem till I could fix it... many others!

We just recently used duct tape to tape a sheet of plexiglass over the back hatch of our suv. The glass shattered as we were packing to go on a trip. My son LOVES duct tape. He almost passed out from joy when we found camouflage duct tape. He makes everything out of tape; hats, wallets etc. and takes care of anything I need fixed, too!

I don't know that I've ever used Duct Tape myself, although I have seen, for sale, a Duct Tape wallet.

We always have several rolls around the house because you never know when you might need it.

One of the weirdest things I ever saw was a website where teens made their prom attire out of duct tape (it comes in lots of colors now). The winning couple received scholarships for it.

I don't get it from the dollar store, but I DO tend to go for the cheaper brand when browsing the shelf at the store. That's probably my problem right there!

Last year's Superbowl ad for DORITOS in the amateur contest used DUCT tape to imprison the roommate they thought might steal their DORITOS. They taped him to the back of the dorm door and viewers didn't see him until they left the room. Very funny.

In college I used duct tape to hold a "Neighborhood Watch" sign on to one of my dorm room closet doors. I didn't think it would work, seeing as the sign was so heavy, but it held through two semesters!

Now I just do more crafty kinds of things with it, wallets, checkbooks, clutch purses and the like. It's a lot of fun. :) http://cheshirenat.etsy.com
