Local: Hannah's : they make prime rib that melts and crab cakes that you crave out of the blue. Eww.. Gotta have 'em soon.

I'm not into the chains all that much. I prefer independant, mom and pop operations. The Deerhead Inn is a place on Cayuga Lake here where you can eat out on the enclosed porch area and look out over the water across the street with a second story view. They're known for the steaks and seafoods. Back in the day, they used to feature a lot of fresh caught fish out of the lake...and serve exotic snacks at the bar, like bear and moose meat strips, smelt, Canada goose meat, pheasant, quail...things the owner brought back himself. Another local place is Abigails, where you used to be full on the salad bar they brought right to your table family style before your meal even arrived.

best local steakhouse-Johnny's Cafe; best chain Italian-Biaggi's (but spendy so a once in a blue moon indulgence)or Macaroni Grill (not as spendy); best local Italian-Vivace; best local Mexican-LaMesa or LaFonda; best seafood-Bonefish Grill; best local pizza-LaCasa; best burgers-Old Chicago's or Ruby Tuesday. we have LOTS of great places to eat here

My favorite is Florida Seafood, a local hangout in Cocoa Beach, FL. Looks like a shack from the roadside but it's a well-kept secret. Rock shrimp, heavenly! Last time we went the owner let the kids feed his exotic fish!

Also love Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and Outback. Moe's for Mexican. Subway. Beef O'Brady's is affordable for family fare.

Max and Erma's. Gormet Burgers. Home fries rolled with a sour cream filling. Onion soup to die for. The Max is a 3/4 lb burger Erma is a half pound version. And for those who like lots of taste there is the Garbage Burger. My mouth is watering. God I love food.
