Sara Evans- More Than a Pretty Face!
Okay guys..lets get this out of the way. Sara Evans is a looker..easy on the eyes..great figure..some would say down right hot! No arguments there! But after attending a recent concert of hers, I found out she's much more than that too.

Hailey Steele (a local young gal who has opened for some big names) opened the concert and got the crowd warmed up. Well okay, on a hot and humid 90 degree night it didn't take much. But several times in her stint between songs she previewed Evans show by saying "Your going to love her!" Sure..what ever you say..Steele is it?" I was about to find out she was telling the truth.
Make no mistake, I've been a fan of Evans for sometime now. I bought her first album back when "Born to Fly" was her only song on the radio. I don't think she has ever had the following of other country greats such as a Gretchen Wilson or a Carrie Underwood, but after seeing her in concert I really don't know why.

Sara opened the show with "Coalminer", a bluegrass feel tune that was up-tempo and a delight to the crowd. She also performed the previously mentioned "Born to Fly". Another upbeat song that I would consider her "signature". During these tunes she was constantly connecting with people in the audience..smiling and waving to fans as she danced across the stage. Guys..if you haven't been smiled at by Sara..you haven't really been smiled at before! The crowd was responding too, clapping and dancing in what room they had.

But even during her more emotional and slow songs her talent shown through like a shining star. Her performance of "Cheating" was in my opinion much better than what you would hear on the radio with the studio recorded version. Her song "I Could Not ask For More" was superbly performed that night. No way listening to that would you think she could be in the middle of a very messy divorce. She seemed to have so much heart and soul poured into it, you'd think she had just wrote it that night. (yes..she writes almost all her songs!)

Her "Suds in the Bucket" song had most the females in the crowd up on their feet clapping and nodding in approval to this "girl power" song!
Not only did she perform her own hits well, but she wasn't afraid to go "outside the box" either! She did an outstanding job on a couple that were not hers as well! One was a Willie Nelson tune called "Song for You". How can you copy Willie? You can't, but her rendition was something I'm sure ol' Willie would have been proud of! The other was the very popular tune "Go Your Own Way" of Fleetwood Mac's fame. Again she tackled it like the pro she is, performed it awsomely and was richly rewarded by the audience!

Sara is a country music great; probably more than she gets credit for. Her performance that night showed me exactly why that is!
